I loved the way Greg Brightman, the Boss, groomed and mentored his crew to know when to get out and what to do after getting money on the streets. Though they were loyal to him and each other, before and after his imprisonment, they still were living with lies that seemed to be spiraling out of control.
Denise...a business suit wearing administrator who if you brought it to her she'd bring back to you harder.
Gabrielle....Greg's attorney wife is faithful to him while he serves a 25 year to life sentence.
Tony...has it all...beautiful woman, successful rap career and record label, and plenty of money. He also has a dark secret that if anyone knew he'd be dead.
Morgan...Denise's beautiful young niece that is in a living hell she can't seem to get out of.
Ms. Taylor made these characters come alive on the pages of this book.Betrayal, murder, loyalty, dysfuntionalism and a lot of emotions are all woven in this not so ordinary story.A page turner that will keep you wanting more.
Continued blessings and success to you, Ms. Taylor.
Greg is married to Gabrielle, a lawyer who tackles cases others won't, and who's parents don't approve of their union. As Greg and Gabrielle attempt to keep their marriage together, Gabrielle comes across a letter concerning her husband. Will this open a door to his freedom, or will the end of their marriage?
Denise Taylor, who back in the day was Greg's ride or die right hand, has tried to push the sins of her past behind her, works for the city to make herself look legit while investing her money buying property in her old neighborhood. But when someone close to her threatens to change her course, will she find herself picking up what she thought she'd left behind?
Morgan, a young resplendent beauty with a mixed heritage, and the niece of Denise. Morgan knows what she wants out of life, a smart and hard working young lady. But will all her hard work prepare for the unmanageable horror she's about to face?
Tony Flowers a mogul in the music industry, who has benefitted from Greg's generosity lives the life of a celebrity, launching careers and furthering his own. But will Tony's secrets bring his empire down?
I love a book that makes you react, and Scattered Lies "Where lies are the reality of the truth" does this. It grabs you, pulls you in and holds you hostage until the end, then leaves you wanting more.
Madison shows her mastery of melding together name brand items with high level psychology. The characters in Scattered Lies know enough about each other to know that there is more to know. It is that surface tension that keeps the reader afloat amid infinitely deep plot twists. The realistic dialogue is matched with issues that will hit home with many readers: family favoritism, being in love with old flames, skeletons in the closet coming back to destroy stability, among others.
The additional characters and scenarios perfectly accommodate the flavor and complexity of Scattered Lies. Denise's niece Morgan deals with issues that most teenagers struggle with such as teenage sex, being a critical thinker at a young age and being treated differently because of beauty. Gabrielle's clientele also engages issues like money laundering practices by wealthy people and rich women who are sexually addicted to boy toys from the hood.
There were two things that did not sit comfortably with me: the book's cover and the book's ending.Read more ›
