Schecter Damien Special Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Tremolo, Black
- The Floyd Rose Special is the authentic version of a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo system. It maintains the features of an Original Floyd Rose, while utilizing zinc alloy saddles in place of steel and a zinc alloy sustain block in place of brass.
- EMG Active 81/85 Pickups
- The Maple top transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a mahogany body. Maple has a uniform grain, it’s strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods.
- The Rosewood fretboard is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.
- Grover tuners

EMG Active 81/85 Pickups
One of the most popular EMG’s the 81 is the one that started a revolution. Utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the tone was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high end cut and fluid sustain. Traditionally used in the bridge position, this pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. When used in both neck and bridge positions the sound can only be described as blistering. Recommended pairings include the classic 81/85 setup.
Maple has a uniform grain, it’s strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a mahogany body.

It just screams metal and rock. The pickups are actually really nice for this price point and the setup on the guitar is really pretty good. My tech can probably get the action a little lower, but I'm ok with it where it is.
It's actually a very impressive piece for this price point, again.
Unfortunately, for me it was an impulse buy brought on buy the ridiculous gold box deal. At regular amazon price, the guitar was invisible to me... at the Gold Box price, however, it was irresistible.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking to shred or even play moderate rock stuff. It sounds great, plays great, is very versatile and actually holds its tune incredibly well for a Floyd Rose.
Good work on this one Schecter!
As far as the guitar's construction, I've never had a guitar with a whammy bar (tremolo) on it so I'm not sure if some of the parts on this guitar are design choices or if they are necessary for this guitar. There is a set of three knobs next to the tuning knobs and before the neck that you must first loosen to tune your guitar. Otherwise the tuning knobs will not change the pitch of the string (Beware, just because the pitch doesn't change when the knobs are tight does not mean the tuning knob is not tightening the string before the neck! It's how I popped the A string). I realize now that it's the Floyd Rose bridge style and I should have looked into it before I tried to fix anything.
Other than those things I mentioned, this guitar looks like a quality instrument well worth the flash sale price I got it for. I am excited to have full strings soon so I can actually play this beast!
edit: So I have learned how to tune this guitar and after that, I have had no problems with it whatsoever. The sound is great and I really like how it feels to play. Apart from the tuning being a bit more complicated than I expected, I am quite satisfied with this purchase.
