I have had this guitar for about a month now, and I could not be happier. As others have commented, the guitar is solid and feel extremely durable. In addition, it comes with great pick ups, tuners, nut, and is a solid instrument. The action was great when it arrived and has been a real nice guitar to play.
I pick this thing up and can't seem to put it down. The color scheme is a little over the top for me, as I like something a little more mellow, but I get compliments on it from everyone that sees it.
If you are looking for a nice guitar at a great price, this is the guitar for you. Be sure to wait and watch the price at it seems to fluctuate often. You can pick it up for an unbelievable price.
You will not find this guitar listed on the Schecter website unless you search for it. It's a special edition made specifically for Amazon.com.
Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new guitar.
The function to turn the humbuckers into single coils allows for some really cool versatility and nice cleans. The Seymor
Duncan pick-ups are super clear and sound awesome.
They do great from high gain distortion to soft clean leads. It covers the spectrum.
One of my concerns before purchasing the guitar was the neck size.
I have small hands so I like a 'smaller' neck. The Schecter C-1 Classic which is very similar to this guitar (C-1 Peofessional) had extra jumbo frets so I lost interest. When this guitar came in and I plugged it in, I couldn't believe how comfortable it was to play.
The neck size is perfect.
It's also extremely light and balanced (compared to my 100 pound LesPaul, of course)
All in all, the look is beautiful, it sounds awesome, it's versatile, it's comfortable, it's not heavy,
And for the price it's at, you can't go wrong.
I recommend you buy this guitar before they're all out.
The Classic had a 5 position pickup selector, like the Strat design, and in fact
that guitar combines coils from one pickup with the adjacent, for that thin out of phase sound which Strats are famous for. This guitar however is great for live playing as the single volume single tone and three way pickup selector are fast to be able to tweek, whereas i dislike 5 way selectors as you often end up in the wrong setting when you switch quickly in a live stage setting. The push pull knob that changes the pickup config from humbucking to single is faster than having two separate push pulls for each pickup (and how often do you really need one pickup in single coil at the same time as the other in humbucking?).
There is a reason these pro level pickups are one of the most widely used; they are full without being too bass muddy, they interact with distortion nicely, and in single coil mode they're not wimpy.
The price of this Amazon-only model fluctuates wildly, but if you are getting it for under $600 you are safely getting great value.
Follow up... The more I play this thing the better it gets ....I must have gotten lucky on this one but is seem that many have had a similar experience with theirs.. not sure what magic this C-1 has built into it... the tone it is piano like at times.. If this guitar came to me the way it is now I would have given it 5 stars.
