Remotely monitor activities within your home while you're away with the Schlage Home Indoor Camera (model WCW100), and find out if your dog is getting on the furniture or your kids are doing their homework (and not playing video games). With the simplified home automation features of Nexia Home Intelligence, you can also check in on housekeepers, babysitters, and others you allow into your home from any Internet-enabled smartphone, tablet, or computer.
For remote viewing over the Internet, this indoor camera requires a wireless router only. To record video, a Nexia Home Bridge (sold separately), and a monthly subscription of $9.99 is required.
Easy Indoor Home Monitoring
Set up the Home Indoor Camera in a key spot in your home and view live video anytime from most web-accessible computers, tablets or smartphones. Installation and setup is a breeze, and you'll be up and running quickly. This camera securely and easily connects to the Web via your router.
The camera features a 1/4-inch CMOS sensor, a fixed focus lens, F20 aperture, and a 0.5 lux minimum brightness. Select high or low resolution video options to best fit your technology needs. It records at a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second (fps), but you can downgrade the resolution to QQVGA (160 x 120 pixels). It also includes a built-in microphone, external speaker output, and bi-directional audio (full duplex). The camera also offers motion detection for alarms and event management, and it can send you an email notification. In addition to communicating wirelessly via the optional Nexia Home Bridge, this camera also includes an Ethernet port for wired networking. It's backed by a 1-year limited warranty.
Run Your Home from Anywhere
Nexia Home Intelligence is a new way to run your home, from wherever life takes you. Everyone is busy, on the go, and being pulled in a hundred different directions, which makes staying on top of what's happening at home especially hard. But Nexia brings together home automation technology with a simple way to manage it from a distance, enabling you to do things like unlock the front door, adjust heating and cooling, and even manage home security and energy use--right from your Internet-connected smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Created by Schlage and Trane, Nexia Home Intelligence communicates wirelessly via Z-Wave wireless technology--out of the way and invisible--so there's nothing to figure out. An open system, Nexia Home Intelligence allows you to affordably manage your home your way now, with just the Z-Wave components you want. Expand on it later, anytime you want--and as often as you want--by adding more Z-Wave components as your needs grow.
Gradually build your system with cameras, locks, lighting and small appliance controls, thermostats, and sensors over time. Additionally, Z-Wave products from Schlage and Trane work with other Z-Wave-based products available from a variety of providers, so you can customize your home automation and security system how you want it, when you want it.
To access remote management features, such as recording video, Nexia Home Intelligence requires a monthly subscription ($9.99), which includes a free one-month trial period that enables you to experience the benefits of this system before billed. There are no contracts or cancellation fees, and any unused months will be refunded. Additionally, the Nexia Home Intelligence system requires the Nexia Home Bridge (sold separately) for wireless connectivity.

I'm going to summarize my experience and focus on a key point later in this review:
-You will not be blown away by this camera. There are many other available webcams that offer wifi camera monitoring with better quality (some w PTZ capability)
-The ease to which this equipment comes together on the Schlage Nexia system is really nice and highly recommended for the less than technically savy person.
-Be prepared to pay a $12.99/month MINIMUM fee for the Nexia service to allow you to monitor the camera or interact with any other Nexia-enabled device in your house.
-The camera is NOT an outdoor camera and this limits the practicality of installing this in remote places. Most people want to have the exterior doors covered.
My biggest gripe about this setup was not about the hardware as I found the Schlage hardware to be on-par with a lot of it's counterparts in the DIY price-range. It's the monthly Nexia service fee which is a minimum $12.99/month I could not get over. I couldn't bring myself to pay a monthly bill to via a webcam that I was providing internet service for.
***THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!***
What Schlage doesn't tell you is that the Nexia gear will work Vera from micasaverde.com and with Homeseer found at homeseer.com both allowing the same functions and no monthly fees!Read more ›
Without a motion sensor, this camera basically only records when you manually tell it to. I suppose you could link it to another activity, like when someone turns on the lights, but that offers far less value than a motion senson. Once you add the price of an external motion sensor you've basically paid for the outdoor version which includes one.
The overall built of the camera is ok. This review is for those who intend to use this with Vera and needs to know if it works or not before buying.
You don't need to pay ANY fees to add the camera to your account.
You don't need to pay ANY fees to download the free Android or iOS app and monitor remotely.
YOU DO need to pay fees ONLY FOR video RECORDING and STORAGE (they offer recording to your own storage, and they also offer cloud-based saving of your recording to their servers).
Just GO SLOW as you are signing up.
When it asks you what plan you want, you just say you DON'T want ANY plan.
I also forgot to mention that although the quality is on the lower side, the fact that I can see what is going on using my iPhone when I am 5 miles away makes up for it.
They set everything up for you, all the need is your individual camera to start streaming, you don't need to configure the web interface, the app, the server, etc.
Its super convenient.
A manual is not included, just a quick start guide.
I initially had trouble with installation. The Nexia system just wouldn't recognize the camera. I don't like calling support, but I finally did, and the lady knew the problem right away. It had the wrong MAC address stamped on the outside of the unit. The solution was for Schlage to send me another unit, which they did right away.
The second unit installed without a hitch. Just go online to your account and it pretty much tells you what to do onscreen.
I had to call customer support twice: once to set up my bridge and once to set up my camera. After wading through a few pushes of a button and getting a live voice, I found them to be very friendly and knowledgeable. They don't sound like they are reading from a script. No, they jump right to the answer. When I needed a replacement camera, one was in the mail right away. I got it in two days with a label to return the failed unit.
Excellent customer support.
Although the camera can be motion activated, this feature does not work through glass. If I'm standing in front of it in my room, it will activate. If I stand in front of it through the window, it will not activate.
How well this camera performs overall depends on the app you have and the device you are using. The app I use for my Kindle Fire HD 8.9" is the Nexia Home Intelligence Tablet.Read more ›
