It is defined as non-fusible. Sq D listed it in that manner. The disconnect houses a 2-pole 60A QO circuit breaker.
With 'non-fusible' I simply expected a 'pull-out' to remove power. I swapped their 60 for a 20-pole 15A QO breaker.
Main problem - the housing is past SMALL if the installer is using wire rated for 60Amps (#6 with copper, but #4 with aluminum) and they are NOT feeding in from the bottom. A side feed with aluminum requiring a 90 degree bend/radius constitutes too sharp/ilegal bend.
I think Sq D is 'unloading' these. And, their breaker has no 'face' rating! Frankly I expected(past tense) more from them!!!

Old school, won't buy again

I am installing a Lever 2 charging station for electric car. I have tried to insert the load wires four times working with 8ga stranded wire in a position where I can't see into the terminal opening but have been unable to get them captured yet. I don't understand why the two wires won't enter the clamp after the screws are backed off enough to fully open the clamp while holding the screw pushed in (nothing holding it open when screw backed off). I've made my living as a mechanic so I sort of understand these things. And all the screws are slotted and screwdriver likes to slide out. I stopped dealing with slotted screws a long time ago for this reason. Come on, Square D, go to phillips or torx screws.

Great, heavy duty cut-off

I bought this to replace a 20 year old cutler-hammer disconnect / cut-off because the plastic was brittle and warped causing overheating due to a bad connection.

This box is great because there are no plastic connections or mounts so there is no chance of a repeat failure.

I’m a one-and-done kind of guy and I hate going back to a job more than once, so that’s why I suggest buying this (comparably) heavier duty disconnect over other brands. Also, if anything goes wrong with the disconnect switch, you can replace it with a properly sized and model square d breaker, so I have no concerns about having to redo the entire job in the future.

perfect replacement for water heater cut-off.

Builder installed this EXACT same switch beside the water heater 21 years ago when house was built. I noticed recently that the switch felt a little warm, so I replaced it with this one. Old one still worked fine, but after 21 years and for about $13, was a no-brainer to replace. This new switch is unchanged from the old one after 21 years so must be a good workhorse. To avoid taking the old box off and reinserting the wires, I was able to just replace the internal switch and plastic mounting block, reusing the old case which was indistinguishable from the new. Easy job.

Can't go wrong with this box. Very well made. Installed on my AC condenser and also it has two sets of knock outs from 1/2 inch to 1" on the bottom. None on the sides which is a good thing in my opinion to not let water in. Also is a steel box(thick) and has a lock ring to place a paddle lock on it if needed. You can't go wrong with this unit and for a great price.

It was a bit difficult feeding the wires into the switch so I simply pulled the switch out (it mounts like a breaker) secured the wire, snapped the switch back in. I was actually suprised that this box has an actual breaker and not just a pull out to shut off power. Great price. You would pay more for a single breaker at a hardware store than the cost of this box which includes the breaker.
