It doesn’t have to me this way, Marla Cedko. Picture an orchestral score rising up behind you and imagine that you are the center of attention in a love scene. It's not so hard...”
This is Biggs' early work, and the stories inside are easily digestible. Each one is different, but the common threads are longing, love denied, imperfect love, and dissatisfaction with the world around the characters. Not fitting in is a common theme. It's a quick read, and a good one, but in some ways, it leaves you as a reader dissatisfied. It's like an appetizer, or too small a meal. That's what art does - it makes us feel something. Job done.
