Thinking this item had become a rarity on the net, I was led to pay for it more than double of what I am usually ready to shell out for a CD - so my disappointement was compounded. First of all, it is NOT a rare item after all. It only seemed so because of less-than-informative product info under the item's other entry - with much more appetizing, one-digit prices then, but these seem also to have gone unreasonably up since - making it impossible to recognize the disc. I've now set it right, and thanks to ab-cd-book for their help.

To make things worse, contrary to what I expected, his is not a very good version. Recorded in 1989, it was the second in a series of recordings on period instruments that were published in the late 80s and early 90s, starting with the Academy of Ancient Music Chamber Ensemble in '88 (Schubert: Octet in F Major D803, L'Oiseau Lyre), followed by Hausmusik two years later (Schubert: Octett, EMI Reflexe, now available in Europe on a cheap, 5-CD Box from Virgin) and Music from Aston Magna in 1991 (Schubert: Octet Music from Aston Magna, Harmonia Mundi), and topped off by the joined forces of L'Archibudelli and Mozzafiato (1995 - Schubert: Octet L'Archibudelli & Mozzafiato, Sony). I refer you to my reviews of all these.
