Overall I am happy with the bike, but for some minor things that could have been improved. I had trouble assembling it. The instructions given fell short. The booklet that come with it looked like a general schwinn instruction booklet for adult bikes. When finally assembled, the rear mud guard did not sit right, but that could have been me too. Also my son is 34 inches, so we had to fix the seat flush to the bar and it keeps rotating, since that close to the clamp, I could not get it to be tighter. so I didn't like that.
All in all, the bike was good. Handle works well.
1). Instructions were insufficient (atleast for me).
2). The seat keeps rotating. I couldn't tighten it enough because the clamp that does the tightening will not rotate unless the seat it at certain height.
3). Mudflap did not fit right.
The training wheels need to be adjusted every so often. I am not talking about tightening a nut, I am talking about bending the training wheel bars so the bike rides level. I am not complaining, it is a $100.00 bike.
Just so you know, this is a Schwinn but it is not made in America. I thought it was, but a sticker on the bottom of the bike informed me otherwise.
so i knew what would be his 2nd birthday present and started looking for a bike that would be safe enough for a 2 years old to ride.
as soon as i saw the schwinn grit bike i new this has to be it. as a 2 years old is not really grownup enough to ride a bike all by himself, the push and steer handle makes up for that. and the flexibility to remove the training wheels or adjustable seat height makes the bike versatile enough to grow along with my kid.
very well built and stable bike, which i hope will survive the test of time...but there are a couple of things that stopped me from giving a five star rating...the mud guards remain slightly out of alignment with the wheels no matter how we try to fix and the push handle requires frequent tightening.
all in all a perfect budget friendly solution for toddlers who do not want tricycles.
I would have returned but I had already thrown out the box and figured it just wasn't worth the hassle. Shame on me I suppose.
