I'm an experienced builder and after 20 minutes, had the bike ready to ride. Initially, within the 1st 50 feet, the chain hung up on the small chainring and kept on doing so. Put it back on the stand and looked for a stuck chain link or bent tooth but found nothing. Cleaned and lubed the chain and tightened the b tension screw which seamed to eliminate the issue.
Took it out on one of my usual 30 mile routes which consists of macadam, cement, gravel and some dirt trails and I have to say I am impressed at the ride quality. Don't know if the elastomer is the key or a combination of things but this bike rides better over all surfaces than any of the several road/gravel bikes I've owned that were double the price. Makes me wonder if all the stiffening technology like tapered head tubes and thru axles leads to a harsher ride. Even with the old school QR axle and after 2 miles of jarring, rutted gravel, my brake pads remained perfectly aligned.
As stated earlier, the component group is very good and the Sora groupset is all 90% of us needs. The TRP Spyre disc brakes are great and rival some hydros in performance. Cables surprisingly are top quality Jagwire. Although spec'd with Suntour cranks, mine came with Samox which are probably of similar quality...no complaints at least for now. Even the saddle is comfortable to me.
If you can pick up this bike at a discount, I can highly recommend it. If you don't have a working knowledge of bicycle maintenance, I would suggest having your local shop assemble and set it up for you. Too many negative reviews are left out of ignorance. Someone even left a poor review on a bike due to it having presta valves and their old pump wouldn't work with it.
I added a kickstand that clamps on and had a tuneup recently to eliminate an obvious front wheel wobble. I am very happy with the bike and love the feel it has including the handle bars and the shifters.
I pair the bike with the Strava app and my Apple Watch to track my workouts.
