Editorial Reviews

ENCRYPT (2003, Not Rated, 90 Minutes): The world has gone to Hell, and Hell has sent it back! By 2068, war and ecological assaults have ravaged the Earth's atmosphere. Camps of survivors fight for whatever scraps of food remain, using anything to survive — including other humans. Former US soldier Captain John Thomas Garth is hired by former soldier Lapiree to lead a team of mercenaries into the Vincent Estate to retrieve priceless art stored just before the world was left in ruins. Garth and his team find the Vincent Estate has an automated defense system code-named ENCRYPT. Guided by a holographic Chinese woman named Diana (Vivian Wu), Garth and his team find themselves in a maze of deadly obstacles, including a deadly robot called the Rook, as Diana holds the key that could bring about the destruction of the entire world. BUGS (2003, Not Rated, 85 Minutes): A cop tracking a ruthless criminal finds himself in the midst of an unfinished subway tunnel, when his flashlight reveals a startling discovery: a three-meter-long, scorpion-like bug who devours him after one slice of its massive tail. FBI agent Matt Pollack (Antonio Sabato, Jr.) is brought in to investigate, and when forensics reveal the source of the problem, he turns to his friend, insect specialist Emily Foster (Angie Everhart), for help... with chilling results. Now Matt and a team of crack SWAT commandos must go underground to battle these evil predators, but when the humans find themselves trapped inside a massive tunnel, they're forced to race against time and exterminate this menace before chaos and destruction consume the world above! DARKLIGHT (2004, Rated R for horror violence, 89 Minutes): Captured by a secret society known as the Faith and mentally controlled with a powerful spell, ancient demoness Lilith now lives as a young woman with no memory of her ageless past. However, the terrifying plague unleashed by a rampaging monster, the Demonicos, forces one human to recruit her mystical power known as the DARKLIGHT to fight this terrifying beast... and confront the equally insidious dangers hiding within themselves. CRIMSON FORCE (2005, Not Rated, 92 Minutes): In the near future, a manned mission explores Mars to discovery a new energy source for Earth's dwindling resources. Instead they discover a brutal civil war erupting within a previously undiscovered Martian civilization, and soon the fate of both planets hangs in the balance. C. Thomas Howell (The Hitcher), David Chokachi (Baywatch) and Jeff Fahey (Grindhouse) star in this combat-packed adventure with a whole new vision of the angry red planet!

No academy award-winning movies here, but enjoyable enough.
Of course, the SFX aren't always seamless, but only if your TV is
bigger than 46", diagonally.
My TV is 55", so I had to take my glasses off to enjoy it without any
hokie CGI.

You guessed it. I loved all four schlocky movies!

I saw these shows on SYFi, but the only one I caught from the beginning is Darklight, so since the price is right, why not the little I saw on cable seemed interested.
