I started reading Black Science in trade paperbacks and upgraded to the hardbacks for my home library. This is a really great book. Excellent for Sci-Fi fans. It takes the concept of the infinite multiverse and really pushes the boundaries of what that means on an individual level. Remender's writing is spot on Scalera's art goes perfectly with the subject matter. In generally I would say the book is appropriate for most high school kids and many middle school kids but there are some more adult scenes so be aware if you are buying for younger kids.
One the negative side:
I have ordered many hardback collections of comics/graphic novels and about 50% of the time Amazon finds a way to damage the book. I just don't think there is a way to guarantee these items come in a pristine condition. Throwing 3 hardbacks in a box and tossing 4 channels of air filled packing on top of it is just lazy and careless. Just know that if you order this book from Amazon there is a good chance it will have some kind of damage.

"Remastered"... the binding
Fixes the binding issue of the first release of this collection. Original had glued spine without any extra page space, cutting out a big chunk of art and even some dialogue. Love Image's high quality paper - but it made for some pretty bad gutter loss. This one is sewn like Vol 2. They also added a bunch of extra bonus content and changed up the cover/spine to make it seem like a different release as well - but the purpose of this book is pretty obviously just to fix the binding of the original without admitting the mistake. If you own the original, just bite the bullet and upgrade to this version, it's much much better. (And surprisingly more dense.)If you are looking to upgrade from floppies or trades, this is the version you want.If you have none of these things, what's wrong with you? Read this book already.

Hard sci-fi with great character work. This is like Asimov juiced up to 11.

The story is good; the only problem is the binding coming apart in this thing.

Love it!!

The build of the book is very high quality. It is a hard cover similar in size to dark horses library editions. It has sewn binding and thick pages. The packaging was my only problem with it as it gave with no protective wrapping and thus a couple of the corners were creased.

I wanted to stick a three star review on here but felt that robbed the author and artists of all the hard work they had done for this book. The series is great and character story telling is phenomenal.
The book itself however after a mere one reading already has spine issues and is separating. This was suppose to be the re-mastered version that fixed previous issues with display of the art inside the volume but it seems while solving that issue they have created another.
Buy the book for the reasons of it is awesome and beautiful, but your mileage may vary on quality of the binding.

Great book poor binding

Binding instantly came apart. The size of the book and paper stock are too much for the poor quality glue to handle. Wish they would print these oversized book at the Canadian printer.

Amazing
Reviewed in Germany on July 3, 2020
I seriously think this to be the most interesting thing that happened to comic books in the last 20 years. Simple as that. This combination of graphics by Scalera and colours by Dinisio is breathtaking and, different from "Dead Body Road", in a Scifi story they really are able to show what they can. At last once again American artists who are brave and skilled enough to let go realism for innovative expression, graphically an absolute masterpiece. The story? It is fast and bizarre and kept me entertained, but that's not so important. If you want realistic like-in-a-movie-graphics, stay away from this, the approach is very different. Best to google the art before buying to see if this is for you.

Terrible binding
Reviewed in France on April 29, 2019
The story and art are gorgeous, but the binding of this "remastered" hardcover is just terrible.
The remastered edition was supposed to fix a binding problem (gutter loss and glue binding), but now the whole page block is detaching from the spine - and I'm only halfway through the book... The entire batch seems faulty : I already returned one to Amazon, but the second one I got was just the same.
Don't understand why Image can't seem to be able to produce a good hardcover for this edition. The Deluxe vol. 2 is flawless, so it should be possible.

Für mich persönlich nicht der Hit, hab's schnell aus der Hand gelegt, obwohl die Story nicht schlecht ist, aber so gar nicht meine Optik, mein Kollege dagegen liebt es
