Amy describes in best detail the price of paranoia within the ranks at top. Some of the punishment details described in her book are so gruesome and dehumanizing, simply justified by the founder's written policy of enforcing punishment so gruesome as to get the digruntled "back to senses". It becomes evident from start that everyone within suffers the symptoms of battery and abuse, reduced into servile denial.
I should know because I was there during the 80's. Though I have never met the author, many of the names mentioned in book are people I know directly and gladly restored contact through facebook. Fortunately, I managed to make my exit narrowly escaping personal harm.
It is a very painful book to wade through. Though there are an excess of cult slang being the daily picture, there is a generous glossary of definitions and convenient footnotes. Why would anyone allow oneself to suffer so long within that organization and not leave? The cover says a billion words. It is simply because of mental entrapment abound. The book reveals this principle at work on those gullible young minds.Read more ›
