We had a lot of fun with this game. My fiance LOOOOVES scooby doo, and we enjoy the scooby betrayal as well. Yes, scooby-themed games are more geared toward children, and we're 25. BUT this game is well thought out, fun, and not super easy. The only problem we had was the damn frame, so if anyone knows how to use it, let me know lol. Anyway, it is what it says it is, and the quality of the pieces is pretty decent.

Definitely a good gift, something to do for a game night. We can even just pack it up and regift it (since you can't play twice, only downside to these games). We're looking to buy more Coded Chronicles games now!

I played with my 7 year old daughter and 13 year old cousin. The 7 year old got fed up with the reading, so she let us do it, but she still participated in solving the clues, moving the chatacters, handling the pieces, etc. She still stayed involved, and in the end, SHE'S the one who figured out the solution when the other two of us had it wrong! Haha we played over the course of two days for a couple hours each evening so we definitely got our fair share of playability out of it. Everything is age appropriate for Littles, and other than the reading, there's a very healthy mix of things to keep the Littles busy with little tasks while the older people are solving puzzles and clues if the Littles are unable to solve them. There's things they can do to "help" and be involved. For example, at one point we gave my daughter a piece of paper and a pencil and had her copy down each card number on the table while we thought our way through a clue when she was feeling left out and fidgety then she felt included and she was practicing her numbers lol but usually they can do things like moving the pieces, opening things, drawing the cards, putting the cards where they go, etc. to keep them engaged.

My girlfriend and I love real life escape rooms and the board game versions as well. We have tried Unlock!, Exit, Deckscape, Escape Room the Game, and others. Coded Chronicles seems to be a very, very good addition to these games and I absolutely cannot wait to play other editions!

Coded Chronicles features new concepts that I have not seen in other escape room board games and some classic ones as well. Each character has a separate book that essentially allows them to interact with the setting at different times - tying in a good mix of the humor from the old shows into their hefty dialog which we had to read out loud, and it honestly did not feel like a chore but actually felt like really enjoyable. We played as two players and followed the instructions; we split the characters between the two of us the best we could and rolled with it. The manual promises that one person wouldn't have to hog a character for long and it's true. My girlfriend and I swapped characters in between investigations, it kept both of us engaged and it also felt like nobody was left out.

This game not only had the traits of a very-well done escape room board game but also played into the murder mystery/who-dun-it type of scenarios that the Scooby-Doo theme is known for. My girlfriend ultimately loves Murder Mystery board games and agrees that this is a well-done mix of the two!

All in all, this game is tough! You get one chance as it is technically a one-time play board game, and there is a lot of deduction and puzzle solving that we as adults even got stuck on so ultimately, I think that the recommended age of 12 and older is correct for this particular game.

Coded Chronicles is an excellent new installment into the escape room board game category with the unique character involvement and clue system. Scooby-Doo: Escape from The Haunted Mansion was unique, challenging, engaging, and just plain fun to play. It just works.

This was so much fun! All of the puzzles are solveable, just require some playing around and out-of-the-box thinking. We, as a family (all adults), didn't need any Scooby snacks (hints), but only barely. That being said, there is absolutely no replay ability. But, if you remember what things go in what envelopes, you can gift it to a friend or family member once you're done like we did.

Great fun game to play as a family. Although we couldn't work out the maze puzzle. Played over a couple days, fits on a coffee table, lots of observation, deduction and memory elements that any age can do. Can only be played once as you know the answers but can be passed on for someone else to play or recycled as all cardboard. If you like escape rooms and want something for the kids to join in with this is ideal.
