A Scoop of Love has an African setting with a spiritual theme; I LOVED. If you are looking for romance which takes the reader to several cities in West Africa infused with food and culture this is the book for you.
This the first book in the Sons of Ishmael series. The focus of book one is on Rasheed Danjuma as he works hard to care for his mother and siblings. Then we are introduced to food of West Africa by Ibiso; chef and entrepreneur of Bisso Bites. Both Rasheed and Ibiso have demons that prevent both from moving forward personally. On the surface it appears they want nothing more then their careers, but when you open up to one thing its an opportunity for other options to come in.

This sexy romance weaves forgiveness and love into a warm blanket rich with comfort. Nwankwor writes a well written story with several universal themes of family, forgiveness and love.

This book was absolutely good and refreshing. I couldn't put it down. The story was so interesting. The story had me hooked. I loved all of the characters and how the love of family was so important. Holding on to anger can cause you to me up and miss out. Forgiveness is a must. I can go on on about this book, but y'all will have to read it. Outstanding.

If you are looking for a sweet romance novel with a West African setting and a religious theme, then A SCOOP OF LOVE by Unoma Nwankwor is just the novel you seek. In this story, the reader is immersed in the West African culture of Nigeria through the heroine, Ibiso Jaja and her family, and the hero Rasheed Danjuma and his family. This story is book 1 in a series (The Sons of Ishmael) that focuses on the 3 Danjuma brothers, Rasheed being the first. The theme of forgiveness and letting go of the past in order to live in the present serves as the catalyst for Rasheed and Ibiso’s story.

As mentioned, the setting for this story is Nigeria, specifically the capital city of Abuja. The bustling, energetic, northern city serves as the perfect backdrop for this story of the young restaurant/caterer entrepreneur, Ibiso and the established business consultant, Rasheed. As can be expected, the language and dialogue has an authentic foreign flavor that is sprinkled with African phrases and words throughout the novel. The family is a key element in this modern love story, and the author gives the reader insight into the strong family dynamic in the Nigerian culture. Rasheed is struggling to forgive his father who abandoned him, his mother and brothers. In addition, this subplot uncovers the Christianity vs. Muslim polarity that exists. Ibiso’s dilemma revolves around her Christian beliefs and applying them to mend her relationship with her estranged family, to deal with the deceit of a previous relationship, and to nurture her present relationship with Rasheed. Not only does Unoma Nwankwor pen the West African culture in vivid details, but she also weaves the universal themes of love and forgiveness into a well written story.

If you are looking for a different take on a contemporary romance set in a foreign country, this is the perfect story, and it has a great “happy ever after” ending. I recommend it, and I think you will enjoy it.

Good read! Ms. Nwankwor, this is the 2nd book I have read by you and I love being apart of the beautiful African culture. Even though I have never visited, it felt as though I had. Thank you for the lessons on love, forgiveness and the scripture references. Holding on to bitterness always hurts you more than the other person. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is the first book I have read by Unoma Nwankwor and I really enjoyed it. I usually read suspense and mysteries that address subjects on a totally different level but this book held my attention-particularly because of how she brings in the cultural perspective of her characters. Her characters were real and dealt realistically with both internal and external challenges. I look forward to reading more of her work. (Love that African slant)

This story is exemplifies what Christian Fiction should be; A Scoop Of Love makes you smile at the love relationship that is going between God and Ibiso. It has you hoping and rooting for Rasheed to surrender his all to Jesus, it teaches you in love that forgiveness will set you free and bitterness will keep you bound. Yes, this is a love story between man and woman, but God is definitely at the center of it. I had so many favorite scenes, but one of the best was Jide's scene with Rasheed and how he consigned on to Rasheed bitterness when he should have been telling him the truth about Christ. Oh my! There is so much in this story that is AMAZING.

I found myself wonderfully lost and engrossed in the world of Rasheed and Ibiso.. Ms. Nwankwor does a wonderful job of transporting readers into the culture of Nogeria thru the love story of Rasheed and Ibiso. She reminds us that love does cover a multitude of sin, including betrayal and abandonment. Love will heal, restore, and save. Fellow readers you won't be disappointed with A Scoop of Love. Great job Unoma, looking forward to your next release.

The tale of two people so desperately in need of love but so afraid to allow love to happen is the best way to describe A Scoop of Love. The turmoil of Rasheed and Ibiso is enough to make you love them and want to shake them at the same time.
