I saw some fan circles I really wanted to do for a baby shower. I really didn't know what I was doing and bought some heavy grade paper that was harder to bend. The heavier grade paper was on sale and super pretty. So my eyes and wallet failed my over ability. This scoring board was a dream! The heavy grade paper looks really nice as fans than regular paper too!

I can picture using this board for other projects!

Pros:
- A dedicate place to put the scoring tool
- Measurements of both horizontal and vertical sides
- Made of heavy duty plastic. My toddler pulled it down from the dinner table, and didn't hurt it one bit!
- Easy to clean. Dropped some hot glue on it and it peeled right off!
- Fits great with 12x12 paper
- Handles heavier grade paper/card stock

Cons:
None yet. Will provide an update when I do my envelope project with some left over paper

This is my third scor-pal purchase. I have the original and 2 of the eights measuring. I own a small greeting card company and this works even with heavy use. My assistant even totes one back and forth with her daily for when she works from home. I have nothing negative to say about this product.

Great little tool. I've now scored close to a thousand cards, most of them 110# cardstock, and it works just fine. The "bone" folder that comes with it is very handy and easy to keep track with its snap-in holder, but the plastic is quite soft and wears easily. The groove it makes gets wider and wider as you go -- I have sharpened mine several times already using a file or sandpaper; it's easy to do. You can of course also use a different tool to make the creases, but this why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. The base with grooves itself is very accurate and functional. Easy to use -- I've popped out of the groove maybe a couple of times, or let the paper slip and gotten a crooked score, but it's rare. I'd say 99%+ perfect scores.

Light Weight Scoring Board

I bought this to aid me in folding home-made greeting cards. It comes with it's own 'bone' folder, which is actually plastic. In fact, the entire board is plastic and not very heavy. Perhaps this is not intended for use with cardstock, but I found it rather harder to use than expected. The grooves are fairly narrow and shallow, so I needed to press harder to keep the folding tool on track, and the first card I used it on was nearly cut clean through. I tried it with other bone folders, but my results were only somewhat improved. If I score using a careful, moderate pressure and move slowly along, I am achieving satisfactory results. I do get a nicer crease than simply using a ruler and a bone folder on a flat surface, but it takes longer. Guess I'll be looking for a board with larger grooves? This one is getting it done, but rather clumsily. I wouldn't buy it again.

Update: I used Amazon chat to get a new board and it was perfect. He was so pleasant and helpful! I actually received my replacement the very next evening - which was about 12-14 hrs after I contacted them. Excellent service. And my new board is lined up perfectly.

Previous -
Will be returning. I was so looking forward to buying and receiving this item, but the measurements are off by 1/8th of an inch! 😕 I had a sibling check the one they purchased from the same seller and theirs is fine. I really rather have an exchange rather than return it. It shouldn't cost me any extra funds, being this is not a quality item due to the measurements at the top being off!

Easy to use for scoring

This is great for scoring paper for cards. I love that it is in 1/8" increments and that they are labeled. I also like the * at common score markings (i.e. 4.25"). You can score 2 thinner papers stacked together, but thicker ones should be scored separately. I like the 12x12 size so I can line up 2 papers to score in one swipe.

The only downside is that a few times while scoring thicker paper, the bone folder slips out of the groove and causes a mis-score.

Not Precision, Still Useable

The ruler at the top of this scoring pad does NOT align with the scoring grooves or channels. This could be an issue for many. Instead of returning, I used two rulers I have to verify the precision and accuracy of the grooves themselves. Turns out they are fine. So when using this scoring pad, making exact scores on paper is possible. You just have to ignore that the ruler on the score pad is slightly off. When scoring at 3", for instance, I use the groove that is nearest the 3". It's close enough. Your brain just has to make this adjustment, every time. For that reason I took off 2 stars. Also because the seller has the audacity to keep shipping these out to people.

Nice board bad bone folder

I like this board and I will keep it. My only complaint is that the bone folder that comes with it is very flimsy. It bends when you score and it also bends when you crease paper. It feels as if it is going to break in half. I have an envelope punch board that comes with a nice study turquoise bone folder (that doesn't bend) and I use this one to score and fold instead of the one that comes with the board.
