Where do I even start with this book? It's probably one of the sexiest books that I've ever read and one that I've reread at least 4 or 5 times. Every time I want something that really sizzles I pick up Scored by Lily Harlem. Why? because Lily writes erotic romance like no other author I've ever read. She brings her characters to life and she makes you feel what they feel every step of the way.
With Scored, I loved Nicky as she is making her way and trying to make her mark in the man's world of sports journalism. It's all about the game for her and when she is commanded by her boss to dig up the dirt on the players she's been sent to cover, she refuses. Instead she focuses on the game and in doing so gains the attention of the delicious team captain Lewis Tate. Nicky is one of the most likable heroines I have ever read. She's got integrity, she's sweet, she's nice and she finds herself in a rather clandestine relationship which brings back many memories of my own courtship to the love of my life. I guess that's part of the reason why this story resonates so much with me. There are many elements of the story that are a reflection of my life which brings back some very lovely, very nostalgic memories.
Which brings me to Lewis Tate, all round sexy as all get out, team captain and general nice guy. That's the thing about Lewis. He's a nice guy and when Nicky asks him why he is visiting her, I loved his very simple and endearing response. "I'm just a guy who likes a girl, Nicky. That's why I'm here." How do you not love that response from a guy, who then goes on to say, "It's been a long time since I've met anyone who's been my last thought as I"ve gone to sleep and my first thought each morning." He's a sexy athlete with endless stamina, and he's willing to go to many lengths and break a few rules to be with the girl he's fallen for. It all just makes my heart melt.
I adore this story. If anyone asks me to recommend a sizzling hot erotic romance or asks what my favorite erotic romance is, the answer will always be Scored by Lily Harlem.
Lily, just remember, I saw him first and I've got dibs! I'm not sharing. Tell the other girls to back off and go find someone else! Thank you for writing such a delicious man.
They have to keep their rendezvous meetings secret as the coach does not want anyone distracting his team. Their romance was to die for, very hot as well. The anticipation is well worth it, when they finally give in to each other. Lily has a great way with detailing some very sexy scenes. Very highly recommended, if you are a fan of football and if you enjoy reading a hot story, this story is for you!

But not Nicky and Lewis. Lily Harlem has really scored big with this one for me for a lot of reasons not the least of which she brings an English football team to full, technicolor life with plenty of details to suit a fanatic like myself but that would also appeal to someone less enamored with the beautiful game.
I also prefer sex in books to feel like it's occurring naturally, not forced or stuck in to manipulate readers. The explicit scenes in Scored were not only gorgeously written but deliciously placed at the right time within the narrative. That, to me, is the difference between what I consider "erotic dime novels" that keep getting cranked out, rehashing the same stories with new names over and over again and something like SCORED which, while predictable by the end, was so satisfying I wanted it to end the way I predicted it.
Lewis was a great hero, a real man beneath the fame, aside from the game, and I truly enjoyed the progression of their love throughout the tournament. The sex was hot, and I appreciated that there wasn't a "big misunderstanding", just a great love story wrapped around football (yes, people, this is real football) in a player, a reporter and a tournament.
