The obvious comparison most people will make when they first hear Scorpion Child is to Led Zeppelin. And it's true, Scorpion Child owes a lot to Zeppelin, but to say that Scorpion Child is modern day Zeppelin is to tell only part of the story. As I listen to the various songs on the album, I hear numerous influences from Zep to Audioslave to The Black Crowes and, believe it or not, even Blind Melon (listen to Antioch). That said, I think that Scorpion Child are more than the sum of their influences. The bottom line is that they have written an album filled with solid songs that are well-performed and catchy to boot. The singer has a unique voice that would never be mistaken for Robert Plant's, but which could pass as Shannon Hoon's. If you have been looking for a new band that plays classic rock, Scorpion Child will be your new favorite band.

That Metal Show made it the "pick of the week." Good enough advice for me - really enjoyed this so far. Every song is solid, maybe a few weak moments, but very solid. Sounds like 70's Deep Purple / Led Zep with some modern attitude from gritty singer out of TX. Bonus track is good too.

I am not a fan of new rock or metal. However, Scorpion Child was featured on an episode of That Metal Show, and I decided to check them out; and let me tell you, I was immediately hooked. Scorpion Child is heavy Deep Purple without the organ. Finally, a band that knows what us classic rock fans want in a new band.

I saw an article or tweet that Slash recommended this group. It's okay...just not really my style. I was expecting something more "Slash-like" which this didn't seem to me to be.

You just don't heard music like this anymore!, Little Zep and Kingdom Come in there. but who cares, great to hear young guys making this kind of music!, looking forward to next CD

Solid vocals from Aryn Jonathan Black. That voice could charm the pants off a statue. The musical sound is solid and a great change from all the sheeple bands that are out there now.

This disc sounds like something from a 1970s rock band. Glad too see good younger rock bands are still putting out good rock music.

Do you like Scorpions?
Do you like Children?
I don't particularly like either, but that didn't stop me buying it...
On its arrival, there was a sticker on it saying that this was a release for fans of "Graveyard, Rival Sons and Led Zeppelin"
I suppose it may be, but Graveyard are much more of a Lo-fi 70s proposition than this lot with a more 80s production job.
Rival Sons? Oh, heaven no, what an over rated bunch of up their own behinds retro furrow followers.
Led Zeppelin? You're avin' a Giraffe! What this reminds me of more than anything is KINGDOM KLONE, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
To me though it reminds me more of Tesla those Sacramento veterans which again is no bad thing.
The first couple of tracks really remind me of songs by other bands, but my fading memory can't place them and to me it isn't until "Antioch", "In the Arms of Ecstasy" and "Paradigm" that the band sound like Scorpion Child and not somebody else.
So, all in all not too shabby and despite a four star rating - I'd say I was being generous there - it's a cautious BUY. Depends on how much you like being reminded of other bands.

Put any negative reviews to the wayside - this is a brilliant debut album.
I read of Scorpion Child being mentioned in the same breath as Rival Sons and Graveyard, and being a big fan of those two, i wasn't disappointed with Scorpion Child in the least.
Every track is strong. If you love old school rock (be they new or old bands), these guys deserve your full attention.
