The trouble is that it has empirically shown me that I am completely out of shape and a pathetic excuse for a human. I mean really, who get out of breath and sweating at only 60% of their heart rate? Still working on that and the truth is brutal. But the monitor keeps me honest. I can pretend to do that workout but the monitor won't lie with the results. Maybe I should just attach it to my puppy and put him on the treadmill instead. That way I could feel better about myself and also eat my oreos with a smile. Man's best friend indeed.

This device has two major problems, which I'm calling dropdowns and dropouts. Drop downs means that it randomly miscalculates the heart rate, and places it at a significantly lower BPM than it should be. Dropouts means that it completely disconnects at random times.
The drop-downs tend to happen when the device is on your arm, and your arm is below your heart in some sort of compression exercise. The dropouts happen during other types of compression, mostly twists in yoga.
Another issue is the syncing. The device regularly will go into a state where it flashes blue and red, won't sync with anything, and won't even turn off at all. In this situation, the only two options are to let the battery drain, or plug it into the charger. I've never let the battery drain, and don't even know how long the battery would last, because this situation happened so frequently that I have no choice but to just go ahead and charge it to get it out of the situation.
I've tried this HRM in all of the six different available configurations, and multiple times each. I've tightened the band, I've loosened the band. I've tried on a full charge, I've tried on a low charge.
This thing is the single most annoying piece of tech I have ever had to displeasure of using. I mustered up the strength to give it three stars, because it does technically track heart rate and sync with devices most of the time. It just doesn't do it consistently enough to deserve anything more. If I had read this review before buying, I would not have bought.
Additionally during the first couple of runs where I was trying to find a good spot (or send it back) I had significant drop outs in data and spikes.
I finally found my outside bicep as an okay spot, my last 5 mile run the HR was at least about where it should be and there was only one drop out down to 0 beats and one spike up to 180 beats, each only lasted a second or two (my max HR is around 155bpm and that's for a 5k zone 4 run).
On the plus side it is more comfortable than my chest belts and in the dry cold you don't have to use gel or water to get it reading for the first part of a run until you start to sweat.
The large strap won't fit around my biceps but it's easy enough to combine the large and small straps to make one big enough to fit. Just put one strap on each side of the sensor then use the velcro attach the loose ends together.
Tried to add some photos showing the problems. One is a 15k showing massive dropouts the entire run, another is a short easy run that has my HR super high at the start and it goes down over time. The last photo shows the spike and dropout after finding a spot that the sensor seems to work best at.

For HIIT cardio and workouts, go for chest-strap heart monitors. It reads electrical signals and is more accurate than armband monitors. Whereas, armband monitors use light sensors to detect readings.
