Top Customer Reviews
Since it's battery driven, this device avoids the hum like previous plug-in transmitters in my car when charging my phone at the same time as listening to audio (the reason I purchased my previous FMT4).
Contrary to what the manufacturer told me, this FMT5 differs a bit from the FMT4 (other than cosmetically). This model has an auto power mode, which turns to standby after a few minutes of no audio, and turns on when the audio resumes. (I thought that would be convenient for my use case in the car, but it drains the batteries when in standby, so it's not really that helpful.)
The picture doesn't show the cable, but it's the same as the FMT4. The button is easier to press when powering on or off than the FMT4, so I often switch channels accidentally. And at least on my unit, the power switch is not great. It has no positive feedback feeling when switching, & is harder to slide than the FMT4.
Note that I replaced an FMT4 with this model because the previous device suffers from disconnections and breakups when it is jostled or bumped. It didn't start out as sensitive, but it always did that a bit, & got worse as it got older. So far, the FMT5 seems tougher.
[Updated to lower rating & detail standby & power switch behavior, + channel button sensitivity.]
