From the Manufacturer
Scotch® Cellulose Tape was invented in 1930 by Richard Drew, a 3M scientist. Later renamed Cellophane Tape, the tape was originally designed to be an attractive, moisture-proof way for grocers and bakers to seal cellophane wrap.
When it comes to packaging tape, one size doesn't fit all. Sometimes you only need to seal small boxes and envelopes. Other times, you want tape that can withstand years of storage. That's why Scotch® Packaging Tapes come in a variety of options to meet various shipping, moving, and storage needs.
Top Customer Reviews
One item to note, is that while capable of cutting with sharp scissors when held taught, you will want to keep a rag and some form of solvent close by. The adhesive used on the tape also adheres to the scissors and after many cuts you will start to notice your scissors sticking to just about everything. A quick wipe with some goop off, or similar product, and your're back in business. The adhesive is in no way permanent and very easy to clean off the scissors.
I used it on the footpockets of my rubber swimfin after the previous pair tore at a stress point. Have tripled the lifetime of the fin.
Comparable in grip and strength to gorilla tape, but thinner and with less adhesive. It's best used on relatively smooth surfaces like plastic, rubber, and cardboard. Bonds to itself well, so can be layered easily.
