I bought this to label breast milk bottles in the refrigerator -- only for a few days at a time. I was cutting freezer labels (Freezer Labels - Red Border)and figured this might be more economical. If you have a similar need, this may help --

(UPDATED 10/2012)
After several weeks of using the tape once I ran out of labels, here's why I *now* prefer the tape:
1) Cheaper by far, if all you want to do is write a simple date for a bottle -- I just write out the date while the tape is still on the roll, sometimes several times if I have multiple bottles to label, then tear it off date by date.
2) While gel ink will smear, a regular ballpoint works just fine
3) Sticks great, peels off cleanly, and doesn't turn into a sticky mess when wet. (The aforementioned labels turn into a sodden mess and leave adhesive behind if you let them get at all wet -- even just from condensation upon removing them from the fridge or freezer.)
4) No scraps of backing strips to clean up -- important when labeling milk at O-dark-thirty and/or when sleep deprived due to the milk-consumer's behavior!

Update Feb 2013: I frequently have problems with ballpoint pens failing to mark on the tape -- I think it may have something to do with the same properties that allow the tape to release from itself easily, i.e. there may be some sort of coating inhibiting the ballpoint ink delivery. I've tried multiple pens. It seems to be worse the farther you get into the roll of tape, as well. As another reviewer mentioned, a china marker works well, but I like to have a finer point if possible. Maybe I'll try a Space Pen next; the pressurized ink may help.

I can't count the number of times I've thrown a container of chicken stock, some random side dish, or a piece of meat into the freezer without labeling it. It doesn't seem like a big deal at the time but two months later I have no idea what is inside it. I have no idea when I made the food, and I usually just throw it out. What a waste! Using this handy tape which I keep right on top of my fridge waiting to label stuff, I can now mark everything I put in the fridge and freezer. I label what it is and the date I froze it. I actually use it for stuff in the fridge too so I know how fresh my leftovers are. I do a lot of cooking at home so I'm always putting leftovers into the fridge, they suffer the same fate as the frozen stuff, although on a shorter timeline. The tape works great, just make sure you put it on a dry surface or it will peel off. So if you pull stuff out of the freezer to label, make sure you wipe it off first. Great product, very handy if you cook and freeze frequently.

I bought this to label my daughter's bottles at daycare and I love it - it stays on through multiple washings, including the dishwasher, but peels off easily when you want to. Highly recommended for labeling wet items.

I bought this to label the bags and containers of baby food I've been making and freezing. I haven't had a problem with it. I think the key is to put it on when the item you are sticking it to is dry. If it gets wet after it's been applied, I haven't had a problem with it coming off. If something is wet when it's applied, it doesn't stick as well, like any tape.

I bought this same tape at a store a few years ago and it wasn't this pricey for one roll. Being a new mom, though, I didn't have time to go searching around at stores for it as not too many stores usually carry it so I bought it from Amazon, though I think I could have gotten it cheaper at a store.

This freezer tape is great. It sticks to all my containers, mostly zip bags and various sizes of the Reditainer plastic tubs. I've not had any problems with the tape coming off when I don't want it to, but it's very easy to peel off once you need to wash a container.

The tape core is a non-standard size, and the roll is larger than regular desk tape. I looked high and low for any sort of insert that would fit this roll, but in the end I decided to try out the Tartan Tabletop Tape Dispenser which comes with a 1" and 3" core insert. The freezer tape fits on the 1" core (there's extra room, but the core holder stays in just fine), and the roll fits down in the cavity. It works great, and it's very convenient for prepping bulk batches of food or quickly packing away leftovers.

Freezer tape is the best stuff ever. Not only does it work in the freezer (duh), it doesn't take paint off the wall like masking tape, and holds better than the blue painter's tape. We use it all the time to hang posters in the kids rooms. Some have been up for 5 years, but we can still get them off without killing the paint. In the same way, you can use it to label boxes or plastic bins for the attic. The glue stands up to the heat/cold of unheated spaces without drying out or melting off. I always have 5 or 6 rolls in the house. This should be in everyone's house like duct tape & post-its.

I used a lot of containers to organize things, especially when it comes to food. All the dry food, wet food, fresh, frozen, leftovers, all in containers. For years, I use regular Avery white address labels for containers simply because I always have them on hand. But the regular Avery address labels are really difficult to come off, especially after they get wet either after washing, or after defrosting. Other times the regular address labels refuse to stick to containers after they're frozen. I saw the Scotch Freezer Tape on Amazon and decided to try it.

The scotch freezer tape is great for containers, in the refrigerator, freezer, or any container really. They stick well to glass, plastic, metal, plastic bags, and even foil to a certain degree. They do not come off after frozen. Yet they're easy to peel off. I use regular Sharpie marker on the tape, and the writing does not transfer, does not smelt. The tape and writing pretty stay until I peel them off.

There is 1000 inch of tape in the roll. Because it's not precut, I can cut off a small section for small labels, or a very long one for a large box with details notes. However, the tape is not as neat as precut address labels. It's also beige (like masking take), not white. Sp the neat stack of containers are not as neat after using this label. But I'd rather have rough cut edges than label residue.
