Edit #1 : 12/20/18 - After just a little over two weeks, the tape has lost it's adhesion. If I had to describe it, it's almost as if the glue that made it stick evaporated/dissipated from the foam. I've reapplied new tape to a bracket I was needed to mount, and I'll update again if it happens again. I've deducted 1-star from my review.
Edit #2 : 07/21/19 - I've had to stop using this tape to hold a plastic bracket in place on a wood surface. The results continued to be the same. After 10-14 days the tape would lose adhesion resulting in it falling off of the surface that I stuck it to. To be clear, I cleaned both surfaces with alcohol to ensure it was a dirt free surface. I've deducted another star because of this.
Removing the backing from the tape proved quite a challenge. I finally found that by using a small sharp knife I could slowly tease the backing off. Figuring this out took me quite a bit of practice and patience.
I’d recommend this tape, but only if you’re sure about your application and can figure out the removing the backing thing. By the way this is permanent mounting tape and I’ve found 50% of the time removal will strip small areas down to the drywall.
The second mounting application worked great again for a few weeks, but when the weather turned very cold and dry, then started raining and got very humid but still cold... well, it failed and fell loose. I remounted to a different, well cleaned location, and it's only holding up for a couple minutes before failing.
I notice that the tape is only rolled with adhesive covering on one side, and the other side wasn't rolled tightly/properly and it leaves a ton of air gaps... so now the entire tape roll has yellowed from exposure to air and 'expired' while sitting on a shelf unused for six months. I found a very-heavy-duty mounting tape at a local store that is vastly superior in grip, and with ribbon covering both sides of that mounting tape. I suspect it'll have a much longer shelf life between uses.
Live and learn--I'll avoid this 3M/Scotch product in the future.
Permanent - this word is tossed around too lightly now, and manufacturers often don't seem to get the idea. Finally, along comes Scotch Permanent Mounting Tape. I have a task where screws were going to be difficult, and I was hoping to use permanent two sided tape: I wanted to install a power strip bar to inside wall of my desk, to reduce floor clutter, reduce risk of accidental shut-off and other accidents.
Every other two-sided I tried completely failed, even with heavy striping, the weight of the power bar and the stress of the power cords would pull it off in less than 20 minutes. When I received this tape, I simply applied the tape around the edges and pressed it on. It holds and holds. I can plug and unplug without having to worry about it becoming unglued.
This is finally a permanent solution to weighty and heavy duty problems.
I hope my comments and video help you make an informed decision

I found this not only easy to cut across but also down the length of the tape making it versatile.
I haven't had any adhesion issues. I even applied this to some 3D printed PLA parts in my garage while it was very cold and again, no adhesion issues. I don't have any other tape (besides duct tape) that will adhere like this when it is so cold (Chicago winter).
