BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews, accompanied by detailed videos, can take the place of first-hand experiences that are often lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and try to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and the video at least entertaining. If there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.
They've had different color duct tape for a while - the white was handy for a lot of things. But that doesn't quite do it, and they don't make every color, and I'm not going to buy every color!
But the clear tape is almost like having a roll of every color - since it (somewhat) blends into whatever you use it for. So go ahead and use it on your running shoes, your childrens' books (to repair the spine or stick down the popups again), and so many other new uses.
I can't vouch that it lasts as long outside as they claim it does (6x longer). And it is expensive - this is just 20 yards. So as mentioned, when you're taping up ducts in the basement, you're still probably going to want to use silver duct tape.
The Amazon description above is pretty accurate and useful, if you want more info. By the way, to find the end ... just run your fingernail around the roll, you can feel the end. The tape is thick enough that works well enough.
For a few bucks, everyone should have a roll of this at home, you'll find a hundred ways to use it. Maybe not on ducts. Or ducks. But you'll use it.
I used this tape to cover up some storage totes to make light-tight hydroponic growing boxes. Light in the root-zone means unhealthy plants, so it's critical to block all the light. This tape does the job without degrading or failing if it gets too hot or wet in my basement vegetable garden.
The real deal!
Scotch's Heavy Duty duct tape is not nearly as heavy duty as Gorilla tape. It is thinner, less sticky, and not nearly a durable. In every way Gorilla tape comes out ahead in our applications. The only real advantage to Scotch's tape is that there is more of it per roll, and so it's about 20% cheaper than Gorilla tape. For some jobs, it probably doesn't matter which tape you use, so cheaper comes out ahead--but when you're trying to affix 30x40 foamboard signs to a brick wall, Gorilla tape is the clear winner.

I liked this duct tape - same as the old duct tape but clear. Does the job as usual - can't go wrong with 3M Scotch products! Read morePublished 3 days ago by Colleen Babich
OK, so now I can transparently duct tape everything around me and nobody knows I am doing it at least from afar? I'm in. This stuff is good.Published 10 days ago by Mike Allred
The tape is transparent, but definitely NOT clear. If you are looking for clear or "invisible" tape, this is not it. Read morePublished 11 days ago by Eric Ray Moss
Not really all that tough lol but it works good as a heavy duty masking tape.Published 21 days ago by Dave O
