I read all the 1 star reviews and it is abundantly clear that people don't understand how this product works. Maybe read the instructions for starters, but regardless. This is not kill on contact raid, it is a poison that takes time to work on existing bugs, yet repels new bugs from coming in. So, when reading the reviews saying "it works b y drowning the bugs" just know they don't understand how it works. I use this product 2-3 times a year and it works great, admittedly no well on spiders, but otherwise on ants, our issue, it kills them and keeps them out. I don't work for the company and barely review anything, I am lazy, but the 1 star reviews drive me nuts when you read them. Are we so lazy in America that everything must work right away or we are exempt from reading basic instructions? I don't get it. Buy it, use it properly and it will do the trick... be careful with animals in the house though and use outside as well, doorways, windows and base of the house, again, read the instructions. Thanks for your time and good luck.

We live in a very woodsy area and have a problem with scorpions during the summer months. Some of our neighbors who have a similar problem advised us to just hire an exterminator, but we decided to give this a try first, since it is cheaper. It works very well. My husband sprays down the outside of the house with it every 2 months during the warm weather, and during that time, we see NO scorpions. If we go three months without spraying it we do start to see the scorpions again, but as long as we keep it up every few months we don't have a problem.

My dog recently brought fleas into our house, and after trying bug bombs to no avail, we thought we'd try spraying this inside the house to see if it would help since it does so well against other bugs. We still have fleas, unfortunately, but I can see that their numbers have drastically decreased since we sprayed. And this stuff does not have a horrible, lingering odor like the bug bombs do. We have decided to spray it again in a week or two, and after that as long as the flea problem hasn't worsened, we may be rid of them.

I would advise trying this stuff before you hire an exterminator. It will likely save you a lot of money!

This item was cheaper to buy from Amazon rather than from the store, due to it being a Prime item & I did not have to pay extra s&h on it. It works well & I spray home one day & next day all I see is a few stray DEAD INSECTS! It does the job and I recommend it with 5 stars. Cheaper to use than a Pest control company billing me every month, so its for all you DIY's out there. Recommend for everyone, everywhere.

I purchase this product 1 yr ago and now I find this is a keeper but my fight is with roaches no ants I have tried raid which kills them on site but does nothing for long term. so I'll stay with this Home defense, it took me a month to see any progress, then I notice no roach droppings I was soo happy but I thought I was ok to not retreat the area after 3 months of free from roaches, but I have to retreat it and I am. It was wonderful not chasing roaches and my guess not being grossed out by them. I will stock up on this will not stop. my only complaint is it didn't come with a tube but since I had an old bottle with 10% in it I just used that one. but it's still a 5 for me...

Inside or out, ants die, go away, and die and rarely come back. And if you spray properly, they never come back because the nests are wiped out since they take the spray back to their nests on their legs thus contaminating the nest.

I live in a basement apartment and bugs have always been an issue. This year in particular, I had an influx of centipedes, silverfish, beetles, and other bugs. It was to the point where I was finding at least one bug in my bath tub every single day. I couldn't take it anymore. My mom suggested I try this stuff and I'm so glad I did! I sprayed along my inside walls (where ever there wasn't furniture) and have not seen a bug in my tub since! I also sprayed along the outside of the house and in the window wells. After I sprayed, I did find several dead centipedes around the house, but not one living one! Before, I was killing several bugs a day, but not any more. I don't believe that it will last an entire year, so I'll probably spray again every couple of months to keep the buggers away. It definitely worked on my pest problem.

Also, I have two cats and neither were affected in the least by this product.

UPDATE 9/17/13: I lowered this from 5 stars to 3 stars because after about 3 weeks the bugs started coming back. I sprayed again and they have been repelled/killed again. It didn't last a full month, let alone the year it claims. It does work at keeping the bugs away for a little while and it is affordable, so I will keep using it monthly until the gallon is gone.

I recently moved into a home that had been vacant for a few months, so naturally, there were some bugs that needed to be dealt with. I figured the spray would kill bugs on contact, but I was skeptical of its usefulness for preventative treatment. However, I've been pleasantly surprised. It's been over a month since I used it, and I haven't had any problems with bugs. The few bugs I have seen have been dead. I don't know if it will make it a year or not, but it's certainly been effective so far. I'm definitely glad I went the do-it-yourself route instead of hiring an exterminator.
