About the metal and glass Scotty Peeler…
This is essentially a small chisel, it does the job, but it is pretty sharp and should be respected like any other sharp tool, that goes for yourself as well as the surface you are removing a label from. Be sure the surface is flat and the peeler is flatly placed on the surface. Glass surfaces such as porcelain, china or table ware will often have variance in the surface so proceed with caution or use one of the plastic peelers to start the peeling process.
After using the peeler, a little rubbing alcohol and cotton pads do a great job cleaning up the residual adhesive of hard or non-porous surfaces. It also works great to clean up your plastic peelers as well.
If the edges of your plastic peelers start to curl from use and become ineffective, you may need to replace them but can also try sharpening them. With some medium/fine grit sandpaper laying on a flat surface, flip over your peeler and carefully work around the parameter of the head of the device working away the damaged edge. This should get you a bit more life out of your peelers before they need replacing.
Have fun peeling!
They have a lot of flex and don't really feel of the highest quality but they do work great. When used in conjunction with a good cleaner like Un Du they just destroy labels. They won't remove much without a solvent because the sticky adhesive still remains, but they work much better than razor blades and the plastic/metal combination is great for use on different surfaces so you don't get scratches. Eventually the edges will dull and need to be replaced. But after a couple months of use I haven't seen an issue and expect them to last for a while.
The metal one works amazingly. You just have to be careful not to scratch your box while scraping off. The plastic ones are my favorite. They get gunked up with glue a bit easier, but they overall work best in my opinion. but for the price of all 4, you rally cant beat it. I will be purchasing an additional set of these peelers and i would recommend them to anyone who scrapes price tags.
This product was a personal purchase for myself at the normal retail/list price. I am reviewing it solely because I want to share my experience with other potential customers. I have received no compensation for my review nor do I have any relationship with seller or company. If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible. ***Happy Shopping***
In any case, they are a big help, especially with those labels that are designed to break up into pieces, like Marshalls or Home Goods, where you're not really pulling off a label, you're trying to remove several label pieces cleanly. Almost hopeless, but possible with these.
