The negative -- It says 'drop protection' in the title and the first time I dropped mine (on wood) from only about two feet, the case cracked. I am certainly happy that the phone didn't crack (so arguably the case lived up to its promise) but I would have expected the case to hold up better on a that type of fall. Also, the metallic banner on the back is a bit hokey (wish they had skipped it). I have the gold samsung s6 and the gold on this case is much darker (the silver would probably match best, but it'd be a better case all together with no metallic strip on the back)

The Obliq Naked Shield is the absolute definition of a minimalist case. Out of eight different cases I tested from Spigen, Caseology, J&D, and i-BLASON, the Naked Shield from Obliq is the thinnest. It is also the type of case that clips around the sides rather than enclosing the entire phone. This leaves the top and bottom of the phone exposed which is perfectly fine if you don't need a lot of protection. Ports are easy to access and you can still see the design of the phone. The camera cutout also has a raised lip which protect the lens. I tested other cases that were quite thin, but the Obliq Naked Shield is as close as you can get to having nothing at all.
This case is made out of a standard hard plastic. It is not TPU and does not provide any cushioning. Once again, this does not bother me since I am only looking for scratch protection when the phone is laying down. I find that this type of material also provides a good amount of traction. Most people assume that flat plastic like this is slippery, but it really isn’t. This case actually has more grip the moister your hands are. My hands were slightly sweaty during testing and I was able to hold my arm straight up with the phone in my hand and it barely slid. Another thing that is nice about a hard shell case like this is the rigidity. The Galaxy S6 is an extremely light weight phone that feels very fragile by itself. Adding a hard shell case like the Obliq Naked Shield makes the phone feel much sturdier.
Now the negatives… The case is a fingerprint magnet which is expected for the type of material. The phone itself (especially in black) collects a ton of fingerprints so you really aren’t losing anything. If you’re like me, you have a micro fiber cloth nearby to wipe down the phone anyways. If you have the white S6, this may not be a problem. The second problem is that the Naked Shield does not have any type of buffer so it sits flat against the phone’s rear glass. This creates little rainbow effects which look like oil spills. It’s not very attractive and nearly impossible to get rid of. In contrast, the Air Cushion from Spigen came with a screen protector for the back glass and the Halo from i-BLASON is made with a dot matrix design which creates a buffer between the glass and the case. The Obliq Naked Shield also arrived with two small scratches on the rear next to the camera cutout. They're minor, but visible.
One last thing that bugs me about this case is the lip. Generally, minimalist cases that clip to the side do not have a lip, but this one does. What’s strange is that it only has it on one side… I’m assuming this is a manufacturing defect because I’m not sure why someone would only want one edge of their screen protected. The left side of the case is nearly flush with the phone which I like. My thumb glides smoothly over it like there is nothing there (the whole point of having a minimalist case). The problem is with the right side which has just enough of a lip sticking up that my thumb gets hung up when swiping to the side. I'm pretty sure this isn't right.
The Obliq Naked Shield wouldn’t be bad if it was only $5, but considering the i-BLASON Halo is the same price ($9.99 at the time of this review), I would go with that if you are looking for a minimalist clear case. The Halo has better overall protection (all edges are covered), an anti-scratch coating, and the dot matrix back which keeps the rear glass crystal clear.
