This DVD is a valuable addition to my horror collection, due to the remastering of ZOMBIE (1964), aka I EAT YOUR SKIN (1971). ZOMBIE was completed by horror meister Del Tenney (HORROR OF PARTY BEACH, VIOLENT MIDNIGHT, CURSE OF THE LIVING CORPSE)in 1964. It's an entertaining movie that pokes fun at its stereotyped "he-man" hero, a manly author who runs afoul of voodoo cultists on a Caribbean island. There are some "wink-wink" laughs and some chills, too.
However, the B&W film sat on the shelf until exploitation maven Jerry Gross picked it up in 1971 and retitled it I EAT YOUR SKIN, and co-billed it with Gross' I DRINK YOUR BLOOD. In 1971, SKIN seemed antiquated, being in B&W. Gross cut the film from 93 minutes down to 80 minutes for his double-bill playdates.
Various versions of the film have appeared in home video transfers over the years. This is the best overall transfer that I have seen to date. It has been restored to its 93 minute running time, and it is letterboxed at about 1:85-1. The print quality is very good overall, better than one usually sees for this film. Given the combination of full length and widescreen aspect ratio, this would be a good purchase for those who love cult films from the 1960's.
