Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things was directed and co-written by Bob Clark, who went on to create the seminal classic, Black Christmas and the perennial holiday favorite, A Christmas Story. It also features Alan Ormsby who starred, co-wrote and developed the make-up for CSPWDT. For geeks of this kind of fare, Alan Ormsby authored and illustrated the wonderful Scholastic Book, MOVIE MONSTERS (1975), which captured this reviewer's imagination at a young age with its survey of classic monsters and practical how-to recipes for monster make-up. He also wrote the screenplay for MY BODYGUARD, which featured the amazing young talents of Christopher Makepeace (Meatballs), Matt Dillon (one of his first roles), and Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Serenity). Ormsby also wrote the screenplay for CAT PEOPLE and contributed to Disney's MULAN.
CSPWDT is among the first of the zombie wave that Romero's Night of the Living Dead inspired. With wonderful atmosphere and humor, this low-budgeter holds a special place in the hearts of genre aficionados. Enjoy.
