There are several suspects of course, but, the pieces all come together in order, and you find yourself right there with Sergeant Harris watching a master unveiling. I loved how it was resolved! The format reminded me of how in the PBS series Deathin Paradise, the Chief Inspector gathers all the suspects and carefully reviews each persons part in the story, motive and or opportunity.
I’ve since read every book in this series, and eagerly look forward to the next one. Highly recommend this series.
There is some profanity that I felt unnecessary and that I did not like.
Those who enjoy mysteries will like this book.
Inspector David Graham is a likeable homicide inspector, who teams up with Sergeant Harris to solve a murder at a beautiful country Inn. The characters involved in the investigation are all interesting and likeable. This is the prequel, so I believe it is to set up the Series and give a bit of background on Graham. I enjoyed the process of the investigation. Some persons of interest had to be interviewed more than once, so it was great to watch Graham & Harris peel the layers back. It also involved the SOCO, Stevens (I hope I got the name correct) and Bert, who tests all the evidence. It becomes a team effort to unmask the murderer, not a "one man show".
This is a "clean" cozy series, no cursing, no gratuitous sex scenes...just an intriguing mystery.
Detective Inspector Graham is called out on a murder that occurs at Lavender, a popular bed and breakfast. Norah Travis is found on the floor of the bathroom. It appears she was struck on the head and left to die. After the initial interviews of staff and guests, the police are no closer to identifying the murderer. It's up to them to solve The Case Of The Screaming Beauty.
