It probably took 15-20 seconds. I didn't have to use step 2 with the cone shaped part. I used the other bladed end in reverse and when I hear "pop"- it was out.
Ignore these people saying it "melted", "broke", etc.. when using it on screws in a car or something else. Here's a hint to those folks:
IT'S NOT DESIGNED FOR ANY SCREWS EXCEPT FOR LAPTOPS, PCs, PHONES, TABLETS and other small electronics with light aluminum screws. Of COURSE it didn't work on your CAR because those screws are HARDER. Get an Easy Out kit made for automobiles, geniuses. : )
In any case, it worked perfectly for me. You shouldn't have any issues-just use a slow to medium speed with light pressure.
That being said, I hope to not have the need to use it again.
: )
The first step is to drill a small hole in the stripped screw using the drill bit provided in the kit. Then, as you would when removing any screw, you reverse the rotating direction on the drill and change the bit to the same sized "extractor" bit. You have to go slow at this point. I started the process, my impact driver got hot, so I walked away from it for a while. Overnight, actually, then finished drilling it out the next day.
What was weird for me was getting past the idea of screwing the extractor bit into the screw and thinking I was going the wrong direction.
Great product.
