I bought two of these in the 1850 RPM flavor. They are three pin fans, so you don't get PWM functionality with them. That can, however, be solved by using a fan controller or software. The automatic fan control on yuor motherboard will also increase and decrease the fan speed, but using a different method from PWM.

These fans make good CPU cooler fans because in addition to moving around 58CFM, they also have high static pressure. And yes, they really are almost silent, even at 1850rpms. They are also balanced fans. They take over 30 seconds to spin down after you shut them off, which demonstrates how well they are balanced.

Fans are just one of those things that's going to be different for everybody.

These push a large amount of air even through obstructions (ie high static pressure)

To me their noise profile is near silence even at full RPMs. Some people may hear these and absolutely hate their noise profile, it is a deeper lower frequency than any other fan I've used.

I'm using as push/pull on a Thermaltake Water2.0 Pro. I ordered and tried the Corsair SP120 fans. The Corsairs work fairly well, but strangely did not "match"; when given the same voltage the seemed to spin at different RPM, causing very obnoxious buffeting.

These fans match perfectly for push pull. I really think Nidec Servo is OCD on fan quality, and highly recommend Gentle Typhoons to everyone who'll listen.

Keep in mind these are the OEM Nidec versions and IMHO the listing should state that. However; they are IDENTICAL in all ways to the AP-15 version except you do not get the 3 to 4 pin adapter nor fan screws. Shipped fast. I was replacing a pair of Ultra Kaze 2000's, these are doing a good job, but I think I need to hunt down AP-45's

I'm glad that Nidec is still making these fans available. I've been using the original Scythe Gentle Typhoons in my watercooling setups for years. I've tested dozens of different fans over the years and have not found any that can push as much air through radiators with this good of a noise profile. Not only are they low noise, the noise that they *do* make is not as unpleasant as most other fans (more of a "whoosh" than a whine).

These newer GT's manufactured for Coolerguys perform identically to the original Scythe Gentle Typhoons (as measured with an anemometer in a custom wind tunnel made up of fan bodies and restrictive filters).

I just wish the wires were sleeved...

I have 6 of these in my Enthoo primo attached to a pair of AlphaCool UT60 360 radiators. They are amazingly quiet for how much air they move. With them all spinning at a mere 900 rpm's, they're virtually inaudible.

My main gripe with the fan though is that they are not sleeved. You CAN buy them from other online retailers (Such as DazMode - though not the 1850 rpm version) pre-sleeved for a few extra bucks though. If you have the fan cables exposed in your case, I would HIGHLY recommend you buy it pre-sleeved as sleeving these (and anything really) is a pain. Lesson learned.

There are simply too many fans out there coming sleeved from the factory that having bare wire on your fan is almost inexcusable. The only reason to still consider this fan is because it's flat out incredible and moves a TON of air and is extremely quiet doing so.

I've compared these to the NF-F12's and they are quieter with zero difference in CPU temperature under load or idle.

I bought two of these fans for my H100 radiator and when I read the reviews I was skeptical as to how quiet or cool these fans would run.

However, let me absolutely assure you how wrong I was. I replaced the stock H100 radiator fans, and now I can't even tell my computer is running when I listen for it - it's that quiet! Even when I start loading the machine with applications and games, and I have everything in the room turned off, it's less than whisper quiet.

If you are looking to replace a fan, or if you bought the H series cpu cooling system, do yourself a favor and buy these fans now... you will not regret it.

I love these fans. Very quiet, very effective, and apparently very durable. I ordered a couple almost a decade ago that are still running flawlessly today. I ordered two more recently to use in a liquid push/pull config, and they're just as quiet even blowing through a radiator grill.

They used to come in some pretty simple Japanese retail packaging, but the new ones came in an unmarked cardboard box. Either way, you get a nice solid fan with none of the extraneous fluff that you're paying for with say Noctua fans (fancy box, rubber screws, rubber bumpers, 3 different voltage converter cables, etc.) If they made these in 140mm they'd be the only fan I use.

These are the best radiator fans you'll find. I had to order another one after accidentally dropping one of mine while I was painting them white.
They're dead silent and push tons of air. They're 100% worth the price.

There's another variation of this fan that looks slightly different than the picture, it's complete crap, if they try to send you that one. SEND IT BACK! IT'S THE WRONG PRODUCT!
