This is a really sweet story from the get-go. The two main characters meet while they were very young (preteens), allowing Xavior to mature (only mermen that meet their mates can actually mature, otherwise they stay ageless), and for both of them to get to know each other. I love how dedicated Xavior is to finding his mate and to protecting his underwater kingdom. I also love how Cori accepts her new situation without complaint, following the accident from the cruise ship, and how she embraces her time with the sexy merman. Their meeting in the beginning of the story as preteens, allows for some helpful character development for both Xavior and Cori.
Some cons in Sea Bride: the shortness of the book. Though the ending alludes to things improving significantly for the couple in its underwater world, it also ends abruptly. It would be nice to see what happens after that point and see if they have kids or something.
Overall, this is a wonderful and sweet story which I would absolutely recommend. This is the first book that I've read from Laverne Thompson and I was not disappointed. I look forward to reading more of her merman-themed books in the near future.
I'm diving into book 2, Sea Storm, right away and have no doubts that I'll enjoy it just as much as I did Sea Bride. I'm a fan and hope the series will continue beyond 3 books!
This is a series of magazine articles that has a beginning for the first book, a middle in the second book with the final book the climax. Again, this is my opinion, but I will not be buying the second and third books.
