However none of them showed that happening, I saw this book and was so excited, thinking it would tell everything going on with Jeanette's nursing training. It only told of the bare minimum of it.
I was shocked to find out her uncle was there, more shocked that he robbed a train. Got himself injured, ended up having to have surgery preformed by the doctor Jeanette was assisting that day, and that she would have to help her uncle.
I knew she would help her uncle because she is just the kind to forgo her own concerns to do the right thing. However I was terribly disappointed that this story ended so quickly and never showed her progress and her going back to Kansas to marry the doctor. I sure hope there is more to this story!
Please Amelia don't keep me hanging not knowing what happens to them. Otherwise this too was a very short but wonderful story.
One aspect I enjoyed about this story is the promise of new relationships. There are friendships that are just beginning to form, and new adversaries to face. We are also introduced to the mentor-protege dynamic. While this is not a romance, we are still reminded of the love that Jeanette has left behind and to which she longs to return. I was left feeling a silent promise - a potential for growth, conflict, and self-realization in the stories yet to be written.
While this story is short it has an easy flow and hopeful, positive voice that I found very pleasing.
