TIP- I noticed a review mentioning the spiral hose cracked. This is a problem with these hoses in general (all brands). It it best not to kink them tightly, I do not recommend clipping the hose to the pump as shown in the picture as this will cause the hose to bend in the same spot and probably weaken it. In the past I have repaired cracks in hoses with tape. I imagine you could also buy just the hose.
REVIEW- I have used this type pump for over 60 years. They all seem about the same to me. This one works fine. As with all these hand bilge pumps the hose is the weakest link (cracking). I have probably had dozens of these over the years and don't ever recall issues with pump itself.
So, we have tipped over again after having this, and what a huge difference! This picks up almost all the water in the kayak very quickly! I was surprised at how little water was left after using this. We also bring a large sponge, and between this pump and a few wipes with the sponge, the kayak was dry inside very quickly.
Would definitely buy this again!
My only complaints, and the reason for 4 starts not 5, would be that it would be nice to have a hose on the intake end because it can be tricky to get the shaft down in tight in the lowest reaches of the bilge. Also, I wish I had a longer hose on the outtake because you can't hold the hose in position while you hand pump so itgets a little tricky to make sure you are bailing overboard and not back into your boat. I believe the outtake hose can be replaced, it looks like a pretty standard width corrugated tube. You might be able to extend the intake also, not sure about that one.
Overall it has been very useful for me.
I would give 5 stars except the hose doesn't seal to the pump and a small amount of water splashes out on every stroke.
This pump moves a good amount of water, and I chose the 6' hose which gave me just enough room to move the water over a rise so it didn't just come right back to me. We both got quite a workout during the storm and the pump seemed to hold up well. I'll be buying a second one in case of another hurricane, and just to have a spare.
I'm sure it would work fine in a boat, but it's very handy around the house if you have flooding or drainage problems and want a manual option if you lose power.

That said, the hose is very easy to securely attach and remove from the pump and comes with a handy clip ring to secure it to the body of the pump. If you're going to use this pump without the hose, you can pop the bottom cap off the pump and slide the hose clip ring off so it doesn't get in the way and store it with the hose in case you need it in the future.
Definitely a great pump for the price!
Is able to expel a lot of water in one pump, and makes quick work of a 5 gallon pail of water. Quite handy if you have the space for something this large. If you don't, you may want to opt for one of the smaller models made by the same people.
If used regularly and an electric bilge pump is an option, go electric. That way you can fish and pump at the same time.
