A bit of back story: My previous 550 Watt power supply, manufactured by Ultra, was a nightmare. The first one had an unacceptable/poorly manufactured fan inside of it. I argued with Ultra for days about a replacement. The whole process was a nightmare. I finally received a replacement. And though it was functioning normally, it was VERY loud. The fan would operate at full speed. The only thing my computer needed was a pair of wings, and it might have passed for a jet. It also generated an incredible amount of heat. Enough was enough...
I searched for some reviews on silent power supplies, and SeaSonic appeared on every search. Upon further searching, I found that there are some power supplies with "80 Plus" certification. Meaning that you'll get more efficiency out of your power supply. More efficiency = Less heat = Less fan noise. There are several levels of 80 Plus certification, each with increasing levels of efficiency: 80 Plus, 80 Plus Bronze, 80 Plus Silver, 80 Plus Gold, and 80 Plus Platinum.
I ultimately decided to purchase this SeaSonic 750W X750 Gold Power Supply. Excellent decision.
The packaging alone made me feel like I was going to be impressed. The embossed black and gold box made it appear sleek and elite. Upon opening, I found the power supply inside of a black velvet-like bag with gold writing on it. Cooool.
Aside from the packaging, the product itself was very easy to install in my extremely quiet Cooler Master HAF X case. This particular case positions the power supply on the bottom, rather than the top.Read more ›

Update: 1 year
This PSU has continued to deliver great performance and pay for itself over again with the extra cables provided. I've dealt with several power supplies in building various systems (Corsair, CoolerMaster, etc.), but I will say without hesitation that I would now buy a SeaSonic every time.
It came with an assortment of goodies including cable bags made of fine material, twist ties, and extra screws.
This power supply is currently powering an Intel i5 4690k, an MSI Gtx 970 Golden Edition, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro, 1 7200RPM Hard Drive, 3 140mm Case fans, multiple USB devices and a Corsair H100i liquid cooling system.
Being gold certified this power supply will help save on your electricity bill. It also comes with a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer. These things are built pretty solid especially considering it is a Tier 1 power supply on newegg.com so you can expect nothing but the best from this product and the company that sells it.
I'd like to note though that if you are using a large case such as the HAF X like I am, you will need to know that certain cables might require extensions (such as the 8pin CPU cord). Also worth noting is that the 24pin motherboard cord is unusual where it connects to the PSU, so if you are ever in need of a replacement it could be difficult.

Bricked after 9 months of normal use. I figured this would be a great PSU based on the reviews, the stats on paper, and the name-brand, but I've had no-name, used parts last... Read morePublished 5 days ago by Amazon Customer

Well built and very fancy. My system is quieter now that the fan is thermally controlled. My system doesn't tax it. (GTX 670 video card and a Phenom II 1090T CPU )Published 10 months ago by to the point
