All the other fish were fat and happy, but Meep was scales and bones, and I was sure he was going to kill over any day from this hunger strike. Flake food, pellets, frozen food (which he would usually devour), live food, the little guy wouldn't touch anything! Thinking he was sick, I treated him for worms and intestinal parasites- no good! Water changes, medication, expensive foods, had fed with a pair of tongs, he just didn't care! The little guy still wouldn't eat.
And so came in Garlic Guard as a sort of last resort. I mean, I love garlic, but my fish? I was dubious. I threw in some blood worms without this product and, just as I suspected, Meep ignored them while all his one time friends happily devoured everything in sight. Pouring a bit of Garlic Guard into a cup and adding some more bloodworms and letting them soak made ~me~ hungry from the smell alone- and did the trick for my stubborn fish too. As soon as the worms hit the water Meep darted out from his hiding place and hesitantly approached one of the little red wigglers, and as if lulled by the intoxicating smell of garlic-flavored worms, he ate it. And then ate some more. Jump ahead a week into the future, my once near-dead hunger-strike fish has decided that life is worth living after all so long as garlic is involved. He and I both give this product five stars.
Theatrics aside, this is a good product for getting picky eaters or sick fish more interested in their food. I love Seachem stuff and am glad I have a bottle of this on hand now should I need to medicate any fish, and it has the added bonus of containing vitamin C. It only takes a little bit each feeding so a large bottle will last a while.
