Bought a 480GB and 240GB in April 2014. Both are still working fine and are plenty fast. My main reason for the lower rating is the firmware on these has an issue with (apparently many by looking at the reviews) Dell business class (OptiPlex and Precision) desktop motherboards SMART detection capabilities. The systems will give a SMART error every time on boot and there is no workaround for this. They do still continue to boot and run just fine regardless though. Early on I did a lot of reading about this and it is definitely a problem with the firmware on the drives. I did see at some point Seagate had posted somewhere that the problem was with the systems denying that their firmware is the problem. Unfortunately Seagate has never done any firmware updates for these, not a single one. Nor do they provide any sort of true SSD specific utilities like other mainstream brands such as Intel and Samsung (who also generally have a firmware update or two in the first couple of years) to resolve issues.
So in the end, yes these Seagate SSD's are fast and do seem to work just fine. They just have a somewhat minor issue with the BIOS on some systems in how they interact with the system BIOS SMART querying. I know I have read on some systems the SMART error even stops the boot process forcing the user to press a key to continue booting which would be very annoying. One would think one of the absolute kings of storage would at least issue a firmware update that corrects that.
