I received the guitar in beginning of Jan 2019. Pretty nice sounding, frets not sharp as in other inexpensive guitars, finish was okay, and hey, it's made next door in Canada! After the seventh fret I was getting a lot of rattle. No big thing, I'll adjust neck and take that rattle out with a slight adjustment of the truss rod with a straight edge on fret board etc and tonight I was going to do such that and I noticed a crack approx. 3/8" long where the neck meets the top of the body. And this isn't any hair line finish crack. And it wasn't there the day before. It's a crack that I can stick a business card in it. The Guitar was kept in a controlled environment, in a case not in the trunk of my car. Gently handled. What can I say? I made the mistake of not biting the bullet and I bought another cheap guitar. No more. I will save until I can buy a quality Gibson/Martin etc. No more of this cheap stuff. It just isn't worth it. I will admit that for the money I was initially pleased after purchase. Guitar sounded good, fret work was nice, finish was kinda okay, but now? Hence the two stars. Seeing that crack now? Knowing it won't get smaller or go away? Very Disappointing. It is what it is. Another cheap 300+ guitar. I changed the strings corrected the action and it sounds good with any rattles. But that crack? What can I say except let the buyer beware. A cheap guitar is what it is. A cheap guitar. A crack after just a few short months? You get what you pay for. I'm going to reach out to Godin guitars. I don't expect anything but what the heck.
I tightened the truss rod some to straighten the neck; an easy adjustment. Also, I pulled out the saddle and sanded it down a bit when I changed strings. These adjustments made the action to be about 5/64ths at the 12th fret, a very nice action for me.
The top of the guitar is a little soft when compared to my original S6 even though they are supposedly made of the same cedar wood.
However, both guitars have very nice sound and playability. If you play the guitar with buttons on your sleeve, you will scuff the top of the guitar, I already have.
I recommend this guitar for beginners, intermediate, and anyone who loves playing the guitar.
Amazing sound. It is seriously the best I've heard.
Great weight and design, particularly for playing over a knee.
Perfect right out of the box.
Unforgiving. Meaning, you will need to be fairly accurate with your finger placement, perhaps more so than other acoustics I've since played on.
10 months in and I love this guitar more and more. Initially it was a little rough getting going but now I am in love with the sound and would gladly pay twice what I did.
