A very enjoyable read, a nice flow and loved the very end that ties up any questions that might have still been in your mind. A few words need to be fixed but otherwise a great read!
Lucy, the older sister, travels down a path that leaves her lonely and broken. Katie, the younger sister, also on a path of her own that is hopeful and loving. The sisters come together as only sisters can and continue their journey together to heal each other. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, it is a wonderful story written with heart!
This book takes you on Lucy's emotional ride. The reader is made privy to Lucy Lang's life and what a life it turns out to be. The story is focused on how Lucy eventually finds herself by way of a life saving gesture for her sister. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I found the characters to be realistic and intriguing. The conversation between characters was natural and insightful. The author created likeable characters that make the reader interested in what happens to them next. Ms. Fairchild's use of descriptive language works well, as I read the vividness of each scene stood out. I found myself really wanting to know what would happen to Lucy by the end of the story; which road would she take to find herself or would she ever find herself, would Lucy ever be happy and fulfilled?Read more ›
IN SEARCH OF LUCY is a novel with great premise that fell flat for me for the following reasons.
1- Unlikable protagonist- while Lucy certainly had a difficult childhood, she wore it like a capital V for victim on her forehead.
2- The characters were flat and uninspired.
3- There was too much unimportant detail about minor characters that slowed the pace of the book.
4- Way too much telling without showing.
5- Predictable, slow plot.
6- Overuse of passive verbs.
I cannot recommend this novel.
