Maddy is forty-five years old, her husband has recently died, and she is moving on to start a new life and fulfill a lifelong dream. Caden is the home contractor who will help make Maddie's dream come true. Maddy has arrived in Tybee Island and has found the perfect property on the beach to open her Bed and Breakfast. The house will need lots of work before it can have guests, but Maddy is willing and able to do whatever it takes. Enter Caden; he is immediately intrigued by the green eyed Maddy and sets out to help her. The two butt heads, but soon begin to work well together and find themselves sharing lunches and dinners and fighting a feeling that neither wants to admit. Both have promised themselves that they are past the days of courtship, love, romance, and marriage, but fate works in strange ways as Maddy and Caden quickly discover.
Seaside Beginnings is only 84 pages and is a delightful afternoon read while rocking on the front porch with a glass of iced tea. Stephanie Hurt has written a story that can be felt and enjoyed with the hopes and dreams of the reader. As I read Seaside Beginnings, I smelled the ocean, heard the waves breaking, and hoped for a happy ending. Seaside Beginnings is a special gift to all women turning the dreaded Big 4-0, facing hot flashes and life changes. This is a winner, without any doubts.
