Seaside Dreams is enchanting, sweet and steamy love story.
Bella and Caden's attraction is immediate and intense, and they have little power to fight against it. The way their relationship is built up, is enjoyable and fun to read. Bella and Caden are both building up new lives for themselves, facing the challenges of the new jobs and location, and now also the demands of new, strong attraction and possible relationship.
Caden's son Evan, is in that awkward place between being a child and young man, with all the angst, trials and tribulations fourteen year old faces. The storyline with Evan is real and easy to relate to.
But Seaside Dreams is more than just the love story. It's also endearing picture of lifelong friendships, and what a cornerstone those are in our lives. The secondary characters are vital part of the story. The love, support, and 'know-how' of those forever friendship is priceless.
Melissa Foster writes beautifully grafted stories, where the characters are real and authentic. It is easy to identify with their life, feelings, and challenges they face.
Seaside Dreams is delightful, satisfying, and entertaining story, highly recommended ~four spoons!
Caden Grant is a single father with a fourteen year old son. He’s been a single dad since his college girlfriend dropped him off and walked away never to return. Evan has been his whole life and while he knew that his job as a police officer was a dangerous one, it never really hit him until his partner and best friend was killed while on duty. Looking for a safer place to work while still staying in the field that he has grown to love has led them to Wellfleet. Moving from Boston was hard on Caden but it was even harder on Evan. Trying to fit in with a new crowd is trying at any age but it’s even more so when you’re a teenager just trying to fit in but what do you do when the kids that you are trying to fit in with aren’t anything like the kids that you grew up with?
We first met Bella in Leanna and Kurt Remington’s story. It was great to meet up with all of the old Seaside girls again because let’s face it, they are hilariously funny and once again proved that they are great friends that are always there for each other. I loved that are still playing tricks on the other residents, Leanna and Kurt still don’t close their windows and they are still chunky dunking late at night while trying to stay quiet so they are aren’t caught by Theresa. I can’t wait to see which one of the girls will fall in love next.
While this book is one of a very large series that started as Sisters in Love it can be read as a stand-alone but if you’re looking for a great series that will keep you reading for a while, I recommend that you start from the beginning as I have read every single one. It’s a great series with spin offs that lead to other books and more great characters.
Every summer, Bella visits Seaside Cottages in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, where she shares magical summers with all her friends. But this summer isn't like the previous ones. Bella, reliable and steady, quits her job, packed up her belongings, put her house for sale, and vowed off relationships until her life is in order again and she knows what her future holds for her. But sometimes, what you plan and what is destined to happen are two completely different things...
Caden Grant is a single father who left the comfort of his home in Boston to come to Seaside Cottages to escape the horror he faced when his partner in the police force was killed on the job. Now, starting new, he tries to put all his focus on Evan, his son and his pride an joy. He's never loved anyone as much as he loves Evan, never thought there was room for anyone else, until he met the spark-fire that is Bella. She's wild. She's charming. But most importantly, she cares for his son. When his son gets mixed with the wrong crowd, Caden will have to put all his attention on Evan, but where does that leave Bella? Does Caden's heart really have room for Bella, when all his life Evan has been his whole world?
Sometimes starting over means facing the demons of your past. And sometimes, summers aren't meant to be forever.
I absolutely loved this book! Every character was likable, which isn't common in books, and I really felt invested in, not only the main characters story, but the supporting characters as well. If the other characters, whom get their own books, are as wonderful as Bella and Caden, I can't wait to get sucked into this sweet summer series!
I highly recommend this book.
My favorite quotes:
"That's how you know it's real love, son. There's no ifs ands or buts. There's only life with her or hell without her."
"The woman I want to spend my life with, and maybe one day, if you want to, you'll be the mother of our child. That side of my heart that Evan fills has room for more, but the other side of my heart? Your side? It only has room for you."
"Sometimes having a relationship makes everything else easier to deal with. Sometimes all it takes is that one piece of the puzzle to pull the rest of them together and have them all make sense."
