"Even if you're not yet furnishing a deluxe waterfront getaway, you can still incorporate a little coastal zen into your life, right? And this book highlights houses you don't want to miss, including those belonging to Martha Stewart's getaway in Maine and Tommy Hilfiger's Miami villa. So whether you're seriously into nautical knick-knacks or just want to zone out to some pretty pictures of blue water, get this book."

"In his first-ever book, The Seaside House: Living on the Water (Rizzoli), he [Photographer Douglas Friedman] gives us a glimpse behind the doors and hedges of some of the most luxe retreats in the world: the beach homes where members of his A-list tribe (Martha Stewart, Kelly Klein) go when they’re looking to unplug."
—Tory Burch Blog
"Simplicity — or at least a desire to escape the complexities of city living — often leads homeowners to the sea, as richly rendered in Douglas Friedman’s photographs for “The Seaside House: Living on the Water,” by Nick Voulgaris III."

I might also say that it's really hard to judge a book by it's cover. That's what I did and was disappointed. That's where it's nice when you actually see the book before buying it. The advantage of looking at it in a bookstore.
My only wish is that all design books featured plans or layout drawings too; I like to get a feel for how the rooms all relate to one another and how the entire space flows. That is only my personal preference, I know many people don't miss the blueprints.
In summary this is a well thought out, beautifully photographed book of homes that each have a decidedly different point of view design-wise.
