Matt a professor at Princeton University, has taken a three month sabbatical and returned home to work on writing a book and to determine whether or not he wants to return to teaching. His other reason for returning again is to see Mira, a single mother with a six year old son. The woman who he has flirted with via text and only seen a couple of times since their initial meeting. A faulty showerhead brings them together again sooner rather than later and they are both quick to realise that their desire for each other runs deep.
What follows is a beautiful story of a friendship that is built on trust, respect and hot desire. Throw into the relationship a little six year old boy, Hagen, who will just absolutely win your heart over. I love that Melissa Foster was able to bring across the concerns of a single mum, embarking on a new relationship. But the show stealer in this relationship was definitely Hagen - I loved him to pieces, a typical six year old boy with lots of questions needing lots of answers. I loved the way that Matt ensured that Hagen was included in everything that was happening.
Not only do we have Matt, Mira and Hagen, but Melissa has also thrown in all those other wonderful Seaside characters that make these stories humourous and enjoyable. Serena, Mira's BFF, has the classic moment - Nair is for bare!!!! The Lacroux men certainly know how to make their women hot and needy and Matt has definitely followed inn his brothers' footsteps.
Even though this is the eighth book in this Seaside Summers Series, it can be read as a wonderful standalone. But if you want more details about the other characters mentioned in this book, I suggest that you go back and read the previous books, but it is not required that you do. Melissa Foster's books are written so that you can just pick them up at any time and just read your heart away.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to escape for a few hours, have a few laughs and fall in love with some very genuine characters.
FIVE very happy STARS from me.

Talk about swoon worthy ... Matt Lacroux sweeps into Mira Savages' life and turns the single mother's life upside down and sideways. He understands her son Hagan and treats him like a son. He loves that Hagan is a voracious reader and is a little nerdy, much like he was as a child.
Mira is so afraid to let Matt into their lives for fear he will go back to New Jersey, but before long she is head over heels for him. Now she just has to hope he won't leave with her heart and destroy her son Hagan.
Matt came home to the Cape to figure out what he wanted for the rest of his life. What he thought he wanted and worked so hard for all his life suddenly didn't make sense any longer. Since meeting Mira he can't seem to shake her from his thoughts.
When they both finally let go of their doubts their love explodes and neither can deny it.
This love story has a HEA.
Melissa Foster's stories keep getting better and better, I don't know how she does it, but I love her for the great stories I get to keep reading.
Matt, a university professor is at a crossroads. His professional life frustrates him and his personal life stagnates as his family and friends back in his hometown of Seaside, Massachusetts fall in love and have babies. When an opportunity gives him the chance to make changes, Matt knows there is only one path he wants to take, the one that leads him to the woman and child he’s been thinking of for almost a year.
Mira, a single mom to adorable son Hagen, believes she is finally on the right path working for Matt’s dad to help him save his struggling family business and raising her son close to family and friends. Her desire to be a good mom and provide for Hagen overrides her personal desires, but keeping those feelings at bay becomes impossible when protective, sexy, and oh-so-determined Matt arrives and makes it clear he’s ready for more than friendship. When reality intervenes and choices need to be made, Matt and Mira must decide if risks are worth the potential rewards or the heartbreak. Can two people who have ignored their own desires and built their lives around career and family learn to let go and finally get in touch with their true selves?
As always, Foster’s writing style pulls the reader into the story and makes them feel the sun on their face and the waves at their feet. Melissa Foster bring the whole Seaside gang to the party for this latest book. Matt’s family and the mischievous Seaside girls all saw the attraction between Matt and Mira long ago and are more than willing to help these two find happiness at last.
While fans of the series are updated on the lives of their favorite characters, the book belongs to Matt and Mira. The pacing and evolution of their relationship keeps the book moving and the dialogue keeps the reader smiling. The ‘all hands on deck’ finale brings closure to Seaside, pulls the ultimate prank on the girls, and also introduces us to Bayside and….*sigh*….future additions to the Foster Universe.
As with other Love In Bloom books, Seaside Whispers can be read as a stand-alone story or as part of the larger arc that follows the denizens of Wellfleet, Seaside and now Bayside.
