Then he was sitting in a bar with his cousin when a woman walked in and propositions him. She was interested in a marriage, one of convenience. He took her up on it. He could consummate the marriage but she was to be protected from pregnancy. She had to marry a Lord to inherit money and a theatre from her father. Lord Edgeton recognized how she jerked away from his hand that she had been abused as he had a friend who was abused. He had not protected her and he was determined to protect this lovely woman. She told him her father pressed her to be with a man for a week and it brought money to put the theatre back in business. The Lord who bought her was cruel and he now offered marriage but she did not want to have to accept his offer. Yet if she did not meet the requirements of her father's will, people would be fired as the theatre and money would go to her father's rival. It was for them that she must marry.
Edgerton bought her a new wardrobe and tried to fulfill her dream wedding. He was fast becoming in love with her but she was skittish. Yet she wanted to be more comfortable with her or her to be comfortable with him.
This was interesting though short. I think you will enjoy it. They have begun to desire a kiss. But can it end in only a kiss?
Julie Johnstone writes another sweet novella that has the perfect amount of intrigue and romance. A lovely afternoon read.
