My previous PSUs were the Cooler Master 650W Real Power Pro and a Corsair HX1000. The CM 650W Real Power pro had voltages that behaved wildly under load from 12.03v to 11.30v on the 12v multi-rail. I wasn't aware that all these years, it was killing my GPUs and motherboards. Then i bought a Corsair HX1000 for its modular cables, but the problem i had with that one was it was too long for my taste and later i noticed that the voltages fluctuate too much. So i bought the Seasonic X 760W for its reputation of reliability, efficiency and most of all stable voltages. (If the voltages aren't within spec, the system will likely have a frozen display without going into BSOD, and it will eventually shorten your PC components life expectancy). So far, after 7 months of use, it does the job of giving me a very reliable computer to boot up and running silent under 400w of load in my system. It is 20w to 40w more efficient compared to CM 650w basic 80+ certified. Cable management is excellent, but i do wish that Seasonic made all black cables as what Corsair does to its AX series. Overall, very happy with this unit, and it might last for 7 or 8 years under regular use.
Note: The PSU fan does spin for a second after booting, but stays motionless until it becomes hot enough to start blowing air. Since my case is negative pressured, i use a DEMCiflex 140mm fan filter to block dust from sucking in the case but letting natural convection (wasted heat) rise up from the unit. Its recommended by Seasonic to have fan face toward the motherboard.
Update October 26, 2012: After a year and two months of usage, i can say with absolute confidence that this has been the most stable PSU i ever owned. Back in September 2012, before state taxes were in affect in Amazon purchases, i order a Kingwin Stryker 500W PSU, because my system doesn't use more than 480W at full load and overclocked. I wanted the Kingwin because of it reviews of high efficiency and stable voltages from the reviews i read. To my disappointment, the Kingwin Stryker has its screw holes unaligned. Unlike the Seasonic 760X which has 8 screw holes for which ever position you want, if you case allows only one position. Also the Kingwin Stryker voltages weren't too impressive compared the Seasonic X760. From GPUz, the 12v fluctuated wildly from 12.27v/12.25 to 12.03v/11.97v. The Seasonic 760X fluctuates calmly from 12.30v to 12.11v and in between at full load with my GTX 480 and AMD 955. The Seasonic 760X PSU has been consistent with me and it will be in my system for years to come, until the Seasonic Titanium rated PSUs appear in the market sometime in 2016.
Note: When voltages are stable and with tight tolerances, a computer system boots much faster than compared to a low quality PSU. At least with my experience with other PSUs. Just happy happy happy that i came across to the Seasonic 760X. Even Toms Hardware tech review site abuses this Seasonic 760X version with its testing equipment and it never fails. You can run dual GTX 580s on this PSU and it will still be okay (but you are at the limit).
