The PRIME Fanless PX series utilizes the fanless technology, which eliminates the fan noise completely, ensuring truly quiet operation. The unit not only is rated to be 80PLUS Platinum efficient, but it also has the highest power output on the fanless power supply market at the moment. The power supply is ideal for any situations that demand silence from the equipment. The high quality components inside and the innovative circuit design result in clean and stable power output. The fully modular cables allow for better cable management in the computer case.

Like the old supply, this one has a fully modular wiring harness, but with the difference that all the cables are now black. While that looks nice, I found the color coding handy for identifying and orienting connectors. Other than the color change, the motherboard cable is similar looking to the old one, with individual wires protected by a fabric mesh covering, which is secured with shrink wrap tubing.
However, the new peripheral power cables are made from a sort of heavy-duty black ribbon cable which I find more difficult to route through my drive bay. They are also harder to orient, since they have no color coding. But I will replace the old cable anyway in case the old SATA power connectors have become brittle.
As would be expected, the new supply is somewhat more efficient than the old one due to the lower output rating (still more than 250% of maximum observed power consumption) and Titanium efficiency rating rather than Gold. Efficiency in "suspend" mode is also improved by about 10% even though USB connectors provide about 4 watts to keyboard, mouse and speaker. With the power supply switch on and the computer shut off, power draw is too low for my Kill-A-Watt (TM) meter to measure (less than 0.1 watt).
Despite the absence of a cooling fan in the supply, the temperature inside is only about 3C above room temperature (as measured with an infrared thermometer -- please don't use a metal one!), while the system is drawing about 75 watts.
So when my computer with a 12 year old power supply started randomly shutting off, I figured it was time to upgrade (it's lasted me through a couple rebuilds). I didn't realize fanless power supplies were a thing until I started looking at power supply reviews (who in their right mind actually does research into power supplies?). The Seasonic brand was highly rated by multiple websites, not just for power supplies with fans, but also their fanless power supplies (although I'd never heard of them before). Also their efficiency was top notch, as well as their warranty. What's not to love? Well, the price is kind of high. I guess you get what you pay for.
And what do you get? An unbelievable silence! I knew my old power supply was the loudest part of my computer, but I didn't realize how loud until I installed the Seasonic. Now I can barely tell it's on. I didn't notice an "electrical hum" like some other reviews complain about (if it's there, I can't hear it above the 500rpm case fan).
It's also much more efficient than my old power supply, which I didn't think was a concern, until I measured the vampire drain. My old power supply constantly used 3-4 watts when the computer was off, so I always made sure to flip the power supply switch to the off position to conserve electricity when I wasn't using the computer. The Seasonic draws less than half a watt when the computer is off (I couldn't even measure it), which is a huge bonus. If you're not in the habit of turning off your power supply, you end up saving 2-3 kWh a month. Not a huge amount when you look at your monthly electric bill, but over the course of the 10-year lifetime of a power supply you're talking $20-50 (depending on the price of electricity in your area). Suddenly that high price tag doesn't look so bad.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase, and I highly recommend this power supply.
