About the Author
Carolyn Wilson Eklin grew up in Crookston, Minnesota, youngest of Myrtle and Henry Wilson’s four children. She graduated from St. Olaf College as an English major. While there, her love of music translated into playing flute with the band and orchestra, then singing with the St. Olaf Choir. Sixteen months of travel with the Hormel Girls’ Caravan, an all-girl orchestra and chorus, helped to shape perspectives before she began teaching high school English. After marriage to Duane Eklin and raising three children, she began a 15-year career in social science research at Search Institute in Minneapolis. In retirement, she started singing in a quartet with St. Olaf friends and playing flute in a band and folk group. Travel with husband, family, and friends continues to be important in her life, along with precious time with her children and grandchildren. She currently lives in Plymouth, Minnesota.
