For every woman thinking of buying this chair
October 9, 2017
I bought the tall version of this chair a few years ago to use with a standing desk when I got tired of standing. Loved it. Now I have a sit-stand desk, and wanted a regular-height chair for when I do sit. I hesitated for a while on purchasing this one because of some of the mixed reviews and height challenges. So for the ladies, I am 5'4", and a 22. There's room on either side of me in this chair, and my knees clear the front edge of the seat as they should, with my back against the back of the chair. At their highest setting, the arm rests are just high enough to rest my arms on, when sitting back.
At the lowest setting, I CANNOT put my feet flat on the floor, so know that you will need a low footrest (unless you wear heels). That step platform from the 90's, sitting in the back of your closet is perfect. The cushion is firm and comfortable, and the back has phenomenal support without heating up, because it's mesh - it's just like the tall version. The back of the chair does not adjust, and is a pretty rigid 90-degrees, which I love because of the back support. There's also an adjustable support pillow that goes from lumbar to thoracic levels on someone of my height. The chair itself tilts, if you want to lean back. I have not experienced the "leaning forward" mentioned in some of the other reviews.
This thing is built like a tank, and rolls smoothly across our office carpet, so no need for a chair mat. It's heavy, so assemble in place if you can. I had this delivered to my home and assembled the seat, then took it to the office and put it onto the base. Used an electric screwdriver with a hex bit to get everything in place, and just hand tightened at the end with the included allen wrench. You'll want a helper to attach the back to the seat (leave the plastic on to avoid scratching the back). Have the same helper position the base under the seat so you can set it down in place. Have a seat to lock it into place and then roll around on your new throne.
