Product Description

The Scupper Swift kayak cart adjusts to fit almost any sit-on-top kayak with scupper drain holes. This anodized aluminum cart features a unique width adjustment which allows the axle to lengthen and shorten to accommodate different placement of scuppers. The uprights fit through the kayaks scupper while the hull of the kayak rests on thick foam cushions to distribute the weight. The Scupper Swift also features WaveChaser1 air less tires, eliminating the hassle of leaks and low pressure. Cart can be dissembled in seconds to easily store in the back of the boat.

I have a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120, and this cart works great for me. It fits my kayak in 2 places with the frame fully collapsed. I can put the kayak on the cart and all of my fishing gear in the kayak, lock my car, and go straight to the launch point. The design is so straightforward that the instructions really aren't necessary. Though it includes a tie-down strap, I haven't used it. It is easy to take apart and store inside the kayak, which saves some walking.

Edit 12/29/15: I added a couple photos to this review.

I store my kayak at the harbor, and needed an easier way to portage it down to the launch ramp. This cart was just the ticket. The scupper posts fit the holes in my Necky Vector 14 without any telescoping. Once I'm down to the water, I can pop the wheels off and stow the whole thing in the back cargo hold under the platypus and stow the pins in the mesh bag up front, and off I go! I reverse the process getting out, and then break it down again once the kayak is stored, to stow the cart in a duffle and toss in the trunk. With all that assembly and disassembly, it's important that it be quick and easy...and it is just that. The red is already wearing off where the wheels attach, but otherwise I'm pleased with this design. Haven't seen the problem encountered by the previous reviewer. The Vector is 14 feet long and no lightweight at 65 pounds.

Love it. Works perfect and makes getting to and from the water so much easier. Ordering a second one for a gift for a friend. It's easy to put together. Fits in my kayak when not using. I love being able to pull my 13 foot Hobie Oasis to the water with out huffing and puffing and starting and stopping. I load it up with all the things I want while on the beach and water, attach the wheels and away And go. No more multiple trips to the Jeep when unloading or loading for a day at the lake.

There's not enough height once the kayak sits down on the foam disks. The "W" shaped Native Watercraft Slayer Propel 13 hull has scupper holes that are high inside the hull and the wheels will contact the outside of the hull on both sides. I opened the box, assembled the unit, put it on the kayak, took it off the kayak, disassembled it and had it back in the box for return all within 10-minutes. Oh well - glad it's Amazon. They're great to deal with!! I've looked around some more and have seen many good comments about the "C-Tug" - it's a little more money, but at this point, you can't have a cart that either destroys your kayak or falls apart while you are transporting.

I have used this with my 12-1/2 ft. Malibu Pro Explorer and my 10 ft. Mini-X and it works beautifully. My favorite fishing spot is about 150 yards down a 'road' (I use the term loosely) covered in loose rock with clumps of weeds and fire ant mounds growing down the center. I used to hand-carry my yaks and gear down the road, but now with this cart, it's a lot easier. This road is bumpy to say the least. This cart is sturdy and breaks down quickly to store on top of either kayak (although it hangs over a little on the shorter kayak). I tried making some myself out of PVC pipe, but they didn't last. The pneumatic tires and foam pads absorb a lot of the shock and keeps all your gear from bouncing off the yak while going down a rough road. This cart is well worth the money. I wish I had bought it sooner.

Decent design and plenty sturdy - however...
Beware if you own a smaller (6 to 10 ft) plastic yak...
Main problem being the poles which are meant to slide into scupper holes are likely going to be too large in diameter..
Even after cutting/peeling off plasti-dip coating and getting down to the aluminum - still too large..
Fortunately for us - we have a handle/connection on tooling - thus was easy to get it turned/lathed down .75 mm for a nice fit.. goodie for us, but I feel most ppl will not have that ability or access to someone that can tackle it as a favor. Such a mod could cost one another 50 bucks or more.

In short... if not for the frustration involved with needed mods and why I gave it only 3 stars - I would grade this as a sturdy cart worth the money and a decent design for adjust-ability as well as take-down and storage... either on the yak whilst out for a paddle, in the car/trunk and at home.

Doesn't fit my Perception Striker kayak. The foam pads on the scupper bars are too short so the tires rub the kayak badly while trying to move it. The West Marine Cayman is identical so it most likely won't fit it either. I have emailed Seattle Sports for advice, but have not heard back from them yet. I will update this review after I hear back from them.

I wanted to update my review from 2-stars to 5-stars. I contacted Seattle Sports Co. and they were very responsive and helpful. The Striker and Cayman kayaks are very stable because of their tri-hull design and that where the problem comes in. Seattle Sports worked with me to add another foam block which will give it the lift it needs for the wheels to clear the kayak. Great company to work with and a great cart for even these over-sized models. Just be aware of the need for the minor modification.
