Not all boots are made for wilderness adventures. Some are created for urban excursions, and the Hamilton is just such a boot. The stitch out construction features stylish full grain leather uppers and leather quarter lining and vamp cotton lining. The full length leather-covered Latex rubber comfort control footbed sits atop a Sebago exclusive Vibram® Pluriball™ Sole with slip-resistant non-marking rubber.
At first look, this lace up boot from Sebago looks like a traditional lace up boot with detailed broguing accents on the leather upper. And sure, you could wear this to work, but this boot is made for urban adventures. Waterproof leather construction, Vibram rubber outsole for ultimate grip and durability and a comfort control footbed all stack up to make one solid boot, no matter where you may roam.See all Product description

These are fairly comfortable shoes after a few wearings -- they need to be broken-in a bit -- but if I have a complaint, it is that the sole is rather thin and flexible. With an extra layer of leather in the sole, I think these shows would be nearly perfect, but as it is, they flex rather much, and I feel quite a bit of the road beneath my feet. Fortunately, they run AT LEAST ONE HALF SIZE LARGE, so there is plenty of room for insoles and chunky socks (like my woolen kilt hose). If you didn't catch that, these shoes run at least one half size large. I normally wear an 8-1/2 or 9 medium, depending on the brand, and these shoes in 8-1/2 are on the large size.
One other complaint that I have is that the construction seems a little flimsy, particularly in the sole. The rubber layer on the heel began to come up after only a couple of weeks of wear. (Please note that I walk a great deal.) Again, this is an easily fixable problem, but it does not bode well for the long term. I really only expect to get a year out of these shoes.
My initial impression of the leather was not great. I definitely had that pleather look and feel. But, one treatment with some Leather Honey and it softened right up and took on a much deeper, richer color. I'll keep them soaked in it until they break in.
There is no cushioning or support in these boots. Tried pulling some insoles out of a pair of Sperry's I had near by but the toe box is too tight to be able to add them. I'm not saying they are uncomfortable in any way, but they aren't something you are going to want to go hiking in.
They run really big. I wear 11.5 sneakers. I bought these boots in 11 and there is still plenty of room in front of the toe. I probably could go with a 10.5 but I'm not going to bother sending them back, the 11 is fine.
I'm not really sure about the sole. The rubbery bottom is a bit cheesy looking and I've read it doesn't hold up. Frankly, part of me hopes it wears out. I'll just run it over to the cobbler and have him put a better looking, better performing sole on for me. It's cheap and easy so no worries there.
If you like the look and style, want something between dress and casual and understand that they are just basic boots, you'll be happy with these.
If you're thinking about a nice looking dress boot, these are great. But due to the wildly inaccurate sizing, I had to give three stars.
